Article is from a legal subscription service, but failed City Council candidate but current President of the Harris County Board of Education is gonna get busted in federal court for submitting a notarized affidavit from an expert who had been dead for 10 months.

Judge Hanen of SDTex has given him until March 7 to show cause.

What's the allegation? That he forged the affidavit or that the expert executed before passing but he failed to notify the court of this fact?

Will be blamed on a secretary who was stressed out because of covid.

I always imagined his neighbors watching that sign go up in the yard. Guess they don't have real tight deed restrictions over there.

A well known lawyer in some circles was accused by Dicks wife of being a sexist type among other things. All of which are false and all because this guy has made Mr Dicks dealings very public.

I know many women this guy works with. They laughed at the allegations.

This whole thing sounds broke dick.

Ooff….the facts recited in that order show this thing is going to be over and shut for Mr. Dick.

Also Judge Hanen's clerks need to take some remedial lessons in basic sentence punctuation.

Looks like he's getting hounded and pounded.

Funny enough the show cause order states that the expert report indicates Gadrow (expert) appraised the plaintiff's home on May 31, 2023 and died on June 2nd, 2023. So he did the appraisal a mere 2 days before passing away from brain cancer which was apparently a difficult battle. Timeline says it could have technically happened, but good luck getting the judge to buy that....

A bachelors degree from University of Phoenix and his JD from Cooley Law School. That's hysterical.

For those unfamiliar, Cooley is considered the worst law school in the US, and was in danger of losing its ABA accreditation because more that 1/4 of its graduates couldn't pass the bar.

I don't have a lot of faith in the State Bar. I've seen too many scumbags get away with murder with a slap on the wrist. But reco of disbarment from a federal judge may be different.

That was just in the Republican primary, which he lost 64% to 36%. That's a lot of money to spend on a joke campaign for a down-ballot office.

Has he done well enough in his insurance lawsuits to be able to afford that and all his TV advertising? Have to wonder if he has an investor or credit structure.

I know some solo attorneys run for office with the notion that it's a form of advertising or raising their profile, but most don't actually spend anywhere near that kind of money.

Dick uses elections to basically get around the off-premise sign restriction. He carpet bombs the city with campaign signs specifically as a form of advertising. During his last campaign, his political signs were identical to billboard ads for his law firm.

One interesting aspect of his campaign spending is he spends a ton of money at restaurants in amounts that appear to be meals for only one or two people.
