I've always heard that a pool doesn't boost home values when it comes to selling. So I dunno. The house is 40+ years old and the pool probably isn't all that much newer. So it didn't likely move the needle on the home cost when we bought 10 years ago. It was a package deal, so what are you gonna do?
The opposite seemed to be true during our last two home searches. I am not saying it's a good financial decision or that it adds enough to the home value to justify building, but it definitely adds to the price of the home.

Covid did seem to change the "pool value" dynamics.

People wanted private open space to hang out in, so having a turnkey pool was huge.

building a pool took forever at the time, and the prices went nuts.

Now how permanent that is, I'm not sure. It's definitely still expensive to build a pool.

No, not in Lakewood Forest. But if I'm thinking of the right neighborhood, same general home type and age with a big larger lots for some of the homes.
Asking because we had a deep end of our large pool that was 12'. Home built around 1972. Had a big diving board that you don't see very often either.

Didn't have it heated. Dang lab would jump in in the middle of winter and either my brother or myself would have to dry him off! Crazy dog.

12 feet is crazy deep. Aren't most standard deep ends with diving boards (public pools, club pools, etc) only 10 feet? What goes on in those last 2 feet?

The closest swimming pool to where I grew up had a 20' area and a 25' area. Also had all kinds of minnows, catfish, and even a turtle.

Exactly. She has a certain je ne sais quoi about her looks, and it feels like she really nails the Ripley's Believe It or Not wax museum experience.

Well I didn't have a Dolly Parton appearance on the Tine weather thread on my 2025 bingo card.

12' at the deep end.
You don't happen to live in Lakewood Forest do you?

I'll never forget how often the tall pines neighborhood sign was changed to tall ***** as a kid.
