I have a massive pile of old baseball cards to sell. I realize most are worthless, but who knows what treasure might be in there. Is there someone honest in town that I can take the cards to and get at least a decent payment for them?

Facebook marketplace is probably your best bet, but you'll have to do a little work to figure out how much they're worth.

There are some phone apps that you can get values from pictures you take of your cards and they also have a marketplace to sell them.

you can try and go hawk them to a dealer at the Tristar show at the end of the month

I am one of the owners of Legacy Cards, and we are a reputable dealer in higher end Vintage baseball cards (www.legacycardz.net). I'd be happy to take a look at what you have and let you know if there is any potential value in it. Feel free to reach out at 832-788-9419. Initially, if you were able to tell me which years and brands of cards you had, then I could tell you if there is anything in those years worth selling and give you some homework on which players to look for in those years. Also, someone mentioned the Tristar show in Houston at the end of the month. We will be set up with a booth there as well. Let me know if I can help.

How much is a Nolan Ryan Topps rookie card going for these days? Good condition. Bought it for $3 in the late '70's.

What are the years? Mid 80s to mid 90s are pretty much worthless, outside high graded Griffey rookies and very few other cards.

Going to save your info for when I take on the task of going through my collection sometime in the next few years.

I've got the following cards in near-mint* condition so I assume I'm sitting on a gold mine:

Billy Ripken 1989 Fleer #616
Jaime Cocanower 1987 Topps #347
Todd Van Poppel 1991 Upper Deck #55
Gregg Jefferies 1988 Donruss Rated Rookie #40
Brady Anderson 1990 Donruss #653

*near mint means cards are readable, not too crumpled, when I found the Van Poppel card it had a spider on it so it's got some spider guts smeared on it from when I squished it, and the Donruss Brady Anderson is something of a bone of contention in my family so I'll need to get a premium for it to calm the waters.

I could let the entire lot go for $2,500 or trade for a transmission for a 1996 Toyota celica.

Depends on the brand. Are talking pioneer? Alpine? Klipsch? Sorny? Magnetbox? Panaphonics?

And if those don't work out for you, I've still got my Akai AM/FM receiver and Akai dual cassette player (weigh about 800lbs each), bought in the late 80's at some electronics store by Deerbrook Mall... wish I could remember that store's name!

You missed the early 90s by a few decades…
