I posted on the Food forum as well but figured I'd try here too:

I've only been to Houston once in the past 30 yrs but are heading to the new Meow Wolf on 12/30-1/1.
There are nine of us, 4 adults and 5 older teens. Need one Tuesday Brunch place and one Monday night dinner place.

Looking for something uniquely Houston, whatever that may mean to you. Generally we prefer something lively, either in flavor or vibe. Don't mind higher-end but not some place that would be lost on the teens.

Whatcha got?!

Somebody on another thread recommended the Post TX food court and rooftop for kids:
https://www.posthtx.com/

The rooftop park with the view of Downtown is, I suppose, uniquely Houston.

*and yall can google the Meow thing as easily as I did.

For breakfast/brunch, I'd recommend La Mexicana or Breakfast Klub for some local flavor. Piggy's is good too.

With older teenagers, Ninfas on Navigation or El Tiempo on Washington may be better options for dinner
G&Grace for dinner is not that great atmosphere wise.

Love guard & grace, but dinner service is predominantly big black girls taking instagram pictures of their cocktails & pop rocks sushi … it's annoying

As I mentioned in the other thread, POST is a little more 'vibey' after MW

The obvious is just go across the street to Saint Arnold - sure it's a brewery but a great spot to hang, yard games & good food

Dinner: Federal American Grill on Shepherd

Tiny champions is good as well. But original ninfas or the El T next door are good options. Potente or
Osso Christalla arent bad options either. Guard and Grace is good, but the evening crowd is a bit different as some have mentioned

Drive 5 minutes west of downtown to Bludorn. Best restaurant in Houston but not a fussy and pretentious place at all. Availability could be an issue though.

Original Ninfas. The beef fajita tacos a la Ninfa is one of my favorite meals in the city. So simple but delicious.

Also I'll suggest something a little different.. Hyunh in EADO. Really, really good Vietnamese food. The folks in my office are regulars.

We did the Meow Wolf in Denver last year. It was completely a surprise to us because we were told it was just a bunch of contemporary art then were blown away walking around in it. Felt like I need to do it again after taking some THC gummies or shrooms.

Cool downtown eateries that teens would love is pretty thin. Like mentioned above Original Ninfas, The Post which is like upscale street food vendors in a cool setting, Tiny Champions, for brunch try Leeland House.

Also if you have extra time to kill, Cidercade.

There's an El Tiempo across the street from OG Ninfas and while I think the food/service is better at the Washington location, I've never seen a wait at the Navigation location. Washington El Tiempo can be over 30 minutes even on weekdays and you might need to valet.

Nothing beats your first MW experience. I've been to Santa Fe (the original), Vegas and Denver with the new Houston and Grapevine ones on the books. Santa Fe may still be my favorite but I loved the MW grocery store experience in Vegas. They are super creative and fun for all ages.

Sorry I thought Meow Wolf Denver was ridiculous. But also you realize we must have made it as a truly free and enlightened people if some have time and money to spend it on that pile of slightly artistically arranged $#!+.

Breakfast Klub would be a good, though semi traditional breakfast/brunch place. It is located on the south side of downtown in midtown. Finding a true weekend style brunch place during the week is likely difficult.

Goode Taqueria is solid for breakfast - pecan waffles and/or fajita steak and eggs- downtown adjacent at Kirby just south of 59
