Used to be part of my morning listening...15 or 20 years ago.

I listened to them often back when I lived in range of the Eagle. Always enjoyed the birthday scam.

A lot of their schtick had gotten stale, but a lot still worked. Birthday scam - stale af. This day in rock history - still worked.
I wonder if it was contract time and they wanted more money.

Format wise they don't have a lot of options in Houston but I hope it works out for them if they plan to keep the show going. I always enjoyed listening to the Wild Pitch, Dead Guy in the Envelope, and Drink of the Week segments.

Unrelated but today was Tessa's last day on the Rod Ryan Show.

Could be a money move by the station.

I stream KLOS sometimes because I get tired of the music from the stations in Texas that I stream.

Earlier in the year KLOS got rid of Marci Wiser, their midday host. People were upset.

Then they got rid of Kevin and Sluggo, their afternoon drive time hosts.

The guy after them seems to be gone.

Their morning crew are the only weekday regulars left. I bet they are on borrowed time.

The station resembles a Spotify playlist now. It ain't good.

I'm not gonna be shocked if that what The Eagle is doing.

Scams were mostly miss the last few years but still a good morning drive for me. Been listening since they started on the Arrow.

I'll miss them. Not because they were the best, but because they were familiar voices I could count on to be the same while life bombarded me with other changes.

There won't be any local personalities or dj's on any radio stations in a few years….

That s part of why I like listening to small town or independent radio. Of course, I'm mostly doing that on my phone.

Is there a good app for specifically independent radio?

I'm kind of shocked there are still radio stations at all

I don't know anyone under 40 that listens to the radio, even in the car. They all have to be losing money right? Who spends advertising dollars on a radio ad

Car crash lawyers. That's most of it.

If I am just taking a short drive, I am not messing with hooking up the phone and going in and selecting a playlist or Spotifying. The drive will be about done before I pick something to listen to. Maybe in new vehicles it just goes right to it, but in mine it takes a bit, so I just listen to the radio for a few minutes.

I know, right bro?! It's, like, I can't believe people still do <insert mundane activity> in <current year.>

But on the generational note, I usually notice it's more older folks like my parents' generation who are constantly plugged into their phones, newsfeeds, and streaming content, and concerned with keeping up with what the kids are doing.

I still find human dj's or curators to be better than the algorithm is for finding new music I'm going to like, and I'm generally more interested in local events and news than I am in whatever the **** is trending nationally.

Especially if I'm traveling, I'll find stuff to do, or sometimes regional music influences by flipping the local radio dial. Streaming services and apps are better for finding exactly what you're looking for, but there aren't as many interesting surprises.
