Terrible story about how one of our own, Matt Johnson, was shot and killed in his bed by his wife.
He grew up in Houston and went to A&M in the mid to late 90s. He was a GM at Sams Club in College Station as well during those years. He later moved to Austin and decided to reenlist n the Marines after college.

Very sad. Interesting details on how the wife was trying to manipulate the family court in her favor with the bogus protective order application. Almost wonder if she was trying to set up a self defense excuse.

As an aside, a $967k home isn't what it used to be.

He's not a typical American fattie, but how did she move his body alone? There's got to be someone else providing some assistance.

That's what most are wondering. He was about 5'8" and a solid 200+. I lost touch with him about 10 years ago as he moved out to Utah and remarried. I happened to be scrolling DM and came across this story. None of our friends group had talked to him in about 5 years but he is instantly recognizable. We are all still in shock.

Coincidentally, he was friends with Terrence Starling (primarily through Terry's wife) that many of you may remember the story of his death from a few years ago here in Houston.

Yeah. I intended my comment as a critique of the Daily Mail for trying to play up the "expensive" home angle.

Indications are he met up with a male and female couple after he had been drinking and bar hopping and they drugged him, took his wallet and cell phone. He ultimately succumbed to whatever was in his system and they left him at the apartment with him in the back seat. Unknown whether they knew he was dead at that point. His cell phone was used for a month while the police tried to track the location. I was told AT&T was not helpful in this issue.
About a month later, The main perp showed up at Nordstrom in the Galleria and Store employees were told to be on the lookout as several of them recognized the image police had showed from security cameras the night of the incident. He was a big spender there and easily recognized by the employees. They had numerous images of his vehicle being driven by the male with the female in the passenger seat and Terry in the back seat. Police were called and arrested him trying to leave the garage. He has several stolen credit cards from several people on him so this was his MO.
He was in jail for a month and ultimately they could not prove he or the female had any direct involvement of his death.

It is for that part of Utah. It's a lot more further in the "suburbs" of Park City. And lots of other places around the country. Just because it isn't he norm where you are doesn't mean it isn't elsewhere.

She's going to be someone's prized possession in prison.

She was having an affair and turns out the informant was the other guy. This update indicates she did not have help moving and burying the body.
