Ok ok…uncomfortable question, but it is what it is…

Recommendations for vasectomy in the Cypress area. Been reluctant to post and ask, but alas, here I am. I searched the board and the most recent I found on here was from 2016.

Dr David Kent in Katy. He was with Memorial Herman but will be opening his own practice in August.

Y Factor off Katy Fwy. The procedure took like 10 minutes and recovery wasn't too bad.

PM that guy and see if it worked.

I used this guy last year and the process went about as well as it could have. The procedure didn't take very long and wasnt all that bad. It's the next few days that are uncomfortable.

They will do a consultation first to talk about the procedure and answer questions you may have. While a consultation seems harmless, what they don't tell you is during that consultation you will be asked to drop your pants and the nurse will feel around you testicles to make sure access to the tubes they need to cut will be easy. I still remember seeing the nurse reach around and grab the plastic gloves. That's when I knew it was about to get up close and personal.

Doc. Goldfarb is great and he will put you under for the procedure. If your insurance will pay for it, I highly recommend.

Everyone says it's easy and doesn't hurt. That isn't always the case. Mine was the one-in-ten that was painful during the procedure. I had to ask my doc to take a break so that I wouldn't throw up. If you can be put under, I would do it. Hell, they do that for colonoscopy these days.

Second Dr Goldfarb. He was great, and does a good job making it comfortable with his dude like manner.

I do not recommend this place. They are horrible with follow up. The doctor takes no responsibility for his screw ups. I posted about this place after having mine done. The day of, they were several hours late and also forgot to give me pain meds pre-procedure. I started having issues from the surgery a few months later and they were zero help. Just kept trying to sell me crap. Considering a reversal.

Wow. Sorry that happened to you. That wasn't my experience at all. Pain medication wasn't needed for me before. They used a numbing spray. Then, there was a puncture incision, a couple snips and we were done. Full recovery took about a week.

Again, not discounting your situation, just that mine was as positive as an experience as you can have when getting the procedure.

This didn't happen for me. The Dr did asked how many kids I had (3). And how many kids I wanted (2). That was good enough for him. Got scheduled for a week or two later. Got two Valium. Not fun but not terrible. My biggest issue was the dude got started before the numbing had fully taken place on berry #1. Berry #2 was a piece of cake. Just rest up after and don't do anything stupid.

Had some minor healing complications after mine at the Y Factor, but the whole thing was relatively easy. I do agree that their after procedure communication sucks other than "heres your cups, remember to beat off regularly and take them to the lab on these dates....see ya"

I used Dr. Goldfarb 2 years ago. He offered to put me under, but it always takes me FOREVER to wake up from anesthesia, so I elected to do it with local numbing. Big mistake.

It wasn't necessarily painful, but just extremely uncomfortable that there are 4+ nurses, plus the doc, doing things down there that you'd rather not have intimate knowledge of. To make matters worse, he had a medical student with him so he took his time and gave her a very detailed play by play of what was going on during every step of the procedure. I consented to the med student being there, but, in retrospect, I would have rather not heard all of that.

Overall, glad I had it done. Recovery was a breeze.

They are cutting on your nuts. If they can put you to sleep while doing that….well that's a no brainer.

Entire process was incredibly easy, pretty painless, and there was no recovery. I was back to work that afternoon and back to normal activities the next day.

As someone currently looking into this, this sounds like hell. I couldn't imagine having them down there explaining everything. That's awful. I wish I paid money for this site just for the puke emoji

I don't want to dissuade anyone but the procedure is not always painless, nor successful. Like any medical procedures, things can happen.

In my case the procedure itself was very painful - not the incision, but the stuff they did to my innards. After it was done, though, the recovery was comparatively painless.

My doc didn't expect me to experience all that pain, but it happened.

Given what I know now, I would treat it like a colonoscopy and go under for it. But some folks don't deal great with anesthesia either, so ymmv.

This is the Dr who did mine. Piece of cake, no issues, very little pain if any, was up and walking around in Omaha 3 days afterwards with no issues.

Vasectomy and lasik are very similar. Both are elective and little scary but amazing if they go well. Kinda rough if they don't. I wouldn't do either with the lowest bidder or a place churning them out like a factory. A reputable, experienced surgeon in your area will likely be fine. Even some family practice docs or general surgeons do them but it's basic stuff for a urologist.

That sounds terrible. If you're gonna do it, take some you time brother. Get in bed and ring that bell when you need something.

Yep. There is a time to show the world how tough you are and this ain't it. Kick back, watch some college football, drink a beer or 10. If you read the thread on the OB, almost all the ones that went wrong were guys getting out and doing too much. The world will be just fine if you take a weekend for yourself.

Normally I'd agree but down there I want quickest, easiest, most pain free experience there is.

Went with Dr. Stocks - Urology Specialists of Cypress

https://www.memorialhermann.org/doctors/urologists/dr-james-stocks-md-1003197088

Experience went as well as I had hoped. Consult visit, he didn't introduce himself as "Dr. Stocks", but just his first name. Maybe docs do that more now, but first time I experienced it, so I immediately got a good impression. After quickly realizing we had a mutual interest in pro sports teams, we talked sports for about 20 min before even talking about the procedure. At the end I did have to drop my shorts, but only bc of a couple questions I asked. Had I not asked, wouldn't have had to.

Procedure itself, couple of ouch moments, but it went smooth. No issues. We chatted sports through the procedure which only took 15-20 minutes once started. The laughing gas was a trip! Never had it before. When they said it would take just a couple minutes, yeah it hit hard! Crazy how quickly it wears off almost instantly after removing the mask.

Post procedure, the typical swelling and bruising. Definitely had the "I just got kicked in the nuts" sensation for the remainder of the day, but improved some with just basic ibuprofen and icing. Never needed the prescriptions. After about 48 hours, didn't need ibuprofen at all.

I would highly recommend Dr. Stocks to anyone needing the procedure. Office staff was great also and waiting times were minimal.

Thank y'all for the recommendation!

With mine, I could feel them tugging and almost passed out on the table, they let my wife in to help calm me down and pushed more anesthesia. Terrible experience :-/
