Honestly my valuation would probably have been about 100k less now that I think about it had the seller not given that info. All of the comps were around 100k less, but there's nothing 1:1 out here. Very frustrating. Total boomer move.
Were you protesting based on sales comps or U&E?
I had it all. I had evidence that other similar houses were assessed significantly lower, I had evidence to change the condition of my home and I had sales comps. Then they told me that with my sales price they couldn't justify it. I asked where they got the number they think the home sold for and they told me the sellers sent the closing docs in to them. I told them it is a scummy tactic to solicit that info from sellers on official looking documents as if it were mandatory to report. They were going to change the condition code but then backed off of that and gave me a 3% reduction for depreciation.
This was my first time going at it alone and I thought I had pretty good evidence, especially to adjust the condition of my home, but no dice. Really really pissed at the sellers because that will cost me thousands over the years.
