Very common in lots of small towns with VFDs. Though it's not the primary method they use to dispatch anymore, they still keep the sirens in service.

will also add that the siren is now automated, however years back it was a manual button that had to be pressed everyday by someone at noon. I was lucky enough to do it a couple times back in the day.
