Anyone know of a place in Houston that buys fine china? We have an entire set (unused, unopened) from our wedding that we're looking to sell. TIA!

What kind you got? If it matches our set I'm sure my wife would love to stack it in boxes next to the China we got for our wedding 10 years ago and have never used!

if it is really nice, there are some great shops on Ferndale just off W. Alabama. Some that might buy it from you and some that offer consignment.

If it isn't that nice, then maybe The Guild shop on Dunlavy can help you

The Bluebird Circle resale shop could possibly help, or try FB marketplace. What kind is it?

Send it back to China. Maybe they'll give you a refund

Going 16 years and haven't used ours. Maybe used the gravy bowl and silverware once.

Haven't pulled the trigger yet myself but David Lackey and his people would have references for you to pursue - particularly older fine China.

The Guild Shops mentioned above would also be good in providing references.

Somehow I acquired my great-grandparents china set that is probably close to 100 years old. I guess these places would tell me if it's even sellable?

I sold a full set on Ebay for about $400. After packing it up, shipping, and fees, I made about $250. We donated the money anyways so it was worth the effort. YMMV

That is different than some random set of China picked out from Target as we were scanning away.

I have my great-grandparent's champagne flutes from their wedding and an antique crystal set of my grandmother's that I cherish way more than the China we got for our own wedding.

I wouldn't sell that family heirloom stuff.

We received 6 place settings of China as wedding gifts. A few years later, my wife wanted to get more, but the design had been discontinued.

Fast forward about 17 years - I have no clue how my wife found it, but she stumbled upon a website for a shady pawn shop in Houston that happened to have "a few" place settings of our design so I was tasked to go get them. I bought them for $5/setting, and they threw in the accessory pieces and nice storage boxes for free. They were around $200/setting when we got married. Pawn shop owner told me some guy got them in a divorce and gave them to the pawn shop for free just to get them out of his house and to spite his ex.

We now have 18 place settings and nearly every accessory piece from that design sitting in boxes that are used maybe once every 2 or 3 years. At least I can say they've actually been used a few times.

There is a website that sells pieces of tons of collections, i will ask mynwife later. My mom used it to get a couple pieces of an heirloom set we were given.

And I'm sure noone cares, but we use this pretty regularly, they are authentic USN ward room dishes. We have the something like 15 place settings and a fair bit of the accessories. Fits pretty well with our lives.

I have my grandfather's watch and some other things I inherited that I hold dear. But these dishes are from people I never met and they sit on a shelf collecting dust. I only have room for so many heirlooms, and if these dishes had value to someone I'd be happier with them getting use out of them than with them sitting unused on a shelf.

I have my parents set that we never use. Thought about selling, but it seems like a ton of work to pack (better) and ship so I've decided since I don't have kids off my own I'll pass them on to my stepdaughter. By then they'll be close to antique.

Knowing my family these are likely a step above Chinette but here's the seal on the plates:

That stuff is a dying trend, there's going to be a lot of young folks lefty with very expensive, worthless, China on their hands. Eventually resell shops will stop buying it for lack of people to sell it to.

I attribute to a lack of teaching home economics in school anymore. No one know how to live graciously except on vacation.

Thanks for posting and that looks like a vintage mark. Kovel's puts out an annual pricing book on collectables, but Google would be your quickest source to search and find your pattern and general pricing. There's multiple sets and pieces you can find listed on Ebay and Etsy and once you get a better idea on value you can search locally for interested dealers.

Went to school w/1 of the Duncan's. I also sold a set when we sold our house in 2020 on a local trading board. It was an old set my wife had inherited, probably could've got more for it that we did but it was 1 less thing to pack/store.

If your regular dishes are so crappy that you have to break out special dishes for a nice dinner, you don't need fancy china. You need new regular dishes.

I inherited some Wedgewood china from on old Ag in my way-extended family .

The collection is 10-12 plates with buildings from A&M's campus painted on each plate in maroon. There is even a Sbisa plate. Oh the irony!

I have no idea what to do with such items.

Congrats and enjoy them. If you Google and they're vintage, they have good value.

We use our Lenox China and crystal cuz the wife likes dinnerware, glassware, etc. We also have a fairly extensive collection of Lenox Holiday. Our everyday is Franciscan Apple.
