I had my dog at a boarder over last few days and on the last day he escaped the boarder's house. Its close to a lot of industrial areas, so if any of you tend to be out there for work or anything, please keep an eye out.. same if you follow lots of rescue groups/happen to visit a shelter, etc.

Someone thinks they spotted him on the same street last night and we have flyers out, posters, online everywhere, but the more eyes the better.

As much as I hate Nextdoor, use it. It's amazing how much info you can get from it. Wasn't even my dog but a loose one my wife challenged me to find.

Been with us 3+ years now. Could not have done it without Nextdoor.

yeah the dog sitter and I have both posted on nextdoor. the crap thing is that it's not my neighborhood, so I can't monitor as easily.. plus she's in a pretty industrial area so there's so many places to hide and lots of busy streets. I'm hoping he stuck to that neighborhood, but I'm getting pretty forlorn about the reality of getting him back.

My daughter found a dog yesterday on Westpark. About a mile from the dog park. It was shivering in the rain under some bushes by an apartment complex.

It looks like it had been nursing puppies recently. The shelter told her it's likely some backyard breeders used it to have some puppies to sell and then dumped it.

They also didn't want her to bring it to the shelter and one shelter she called (or rescue group, I forget which) even asked her "why did you stop and pick it up?"

People suck.

Backyard breeders really suck.

I wasn't there. Guy called me and told me that he saw a couple with my dog and they were trying to sell him by the fiesta on Mykawa and Griggs. Husband went there immediately and called the guy, suddenly the guy was in his car and then the dog was being ransomed for $500. .. which is the reward out for the dog anyway..but then there was a lot of craziness and discomfort, I was in the earbuds on the phone the whole time and recorded a lot of the interactions, but in the end, they scammed him out of $300, claimed to be in a firefight trying to get the dog and asked for more money, husband extricated himself from the situation at that point, and he is home safe, but no dog.

I googled the name/number, I guess the guy has done this before. I'm going to fill out a police report when I get home.

might delete because of that. I'm a wierd mix of enraged/depressed/exhausted/relieved/hurt/hopeless

no, did not believe that or care at that point.
Originally, I did believe that this dude saw someone trying to sell my dog. After he got there and everything changed, I just wanted him out of the situation.

for the record, I think it was just a scam and the popeyes he said would have been some homeward bound type travel. I did run over there and check/ask the people working there..and they were like absolutely not, we would have all talked about a cute dead dog body.
