I haven't specifically done sushi, but Central Market's cooking classes are very good. And I know they offer a sushi class.

Central Market one I found is 21 and up
Groupon / Cocusocial is 21 and up, I think because they do these at bars/breweries

Sur la table doesn't do sushi in the Houston market.

Trying to take my daughter…

Many years ago I did a private one. Lookup Carl Rosa. He's very good. His full time job is teaching these classes and he flies to Japan regularly

I'm now thinking to just hire someone to do an in home and make a party out of it. Guess I'll ask some of the local places, I'm sure they know of someone or can put something together

I hired Carl for a class this summer for my wifes Bday. Had about 10 people which is probably around his minimum classes, he normally does corporate gigs and larger parties. Cost was not nearly as high as we thought it was going to be. He brings everything you need for his class and is very entertaining. We are also thining of taking one of his Japan trips next year.

That must make him extra super qualified.

Sorry. Should have elaborated. He meets with Japanese sushi chefs and is well knowledgeable about sushi and how to properly make it. His class is very educational

I took one 9 years ago from this really intense, knowledgeable dude that flew back and forth from Japan.

Yep, Carl Rosa.

There's not a single natural eyelash in those photos.

I know my number one qualifier for how good looking a woman is directly related to how much $#!+ she can spackle on her face. How about y'all?

OP hire Carl Rosa. He's awesome.

Is this just a precursor for someone to make the best sushi in their backyard?

Ftr, my wife is not in junior league nor was she a tri delt, so those are definitely not pictures of the sushi class at my house

My wife & I took Carl's class a few years ago.

Highly recommend.

One of the surprising things about sushi is how inexpensive it is to make at home. Markup on it at restaurants is crazy, borderline obscene.

You were supposed to say that he was the one that taught the Japanese.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it? I would love to just make it at home. Was it sashimi or the rolls & stuff?

$35 pp
Can choose different things. Intro is primarily about the basics, rice, a sushi, and a couple big rolls each.

Next time going to get session on choosing and breaking down the fish with more sushi and nigiri.
