Who's the go to TexAgs recommendation for A/C in Houston? I had previously called Mike Waters at Artic Air based on TexAgs' recommendation, but it seems like he is out of business.

I just bought a 2 or 2.5 ton AC unit for my upstairs. I think it was around $8400 with new unit, new furnace, and minimal duct work.

I've used WGHC to install my unit and I was happy with the install. Don't let a recommendation prevent you from trusting your gut if something doesn't seem right.

Yep, F-ing crook.

+1 for Wise Guys. Had them install a Daikin Fit system back in April and we have been very satisfied. Dylan was easy to work with and the install crew did a great job.

I have used Northwind AC for 3 systems and they remain the best I have worked with. All systems were Trane XR systems and I have not found another company that could touch their pricing. I would throw them into the mix, I worked with a girl there named Bridgette.

I want to know the artic air story now

Well - my experience was that Mike Waters is or was a good guy. I believe he ran into some health issues and handed over the actual to work to others. The other guy was no where near as competent as Mike and ran the business into the ground.

I never had any issues with Mike's honesty - but the service definitely suffered once he couldn't come out and manage or do the work.

Artic had a run of recommendations here on TA years ago (which goes to show recs only go so far and to trust your gut as well and always get multiple bids). I used them on my last house and it went OK. Apparently they went to **** shortly after.
