Pappas new joint, Little's Oyster Bar tops the list!

I don't have a subscription and I was able to view the full list without any problems.

tim ho wan is so overrated. should not be top 100.

Was able to copy/paste the top 25 before the paywall popped up. After 25 they don't appear to be ranked.

What kind of "experience" are you looking for? Laser lights and smoke show? Dancing girls?

Weird you've had that experience. We've been twice and both times had a great meal. We told them roughly what we wanted to spend per person and then let the server choose for us and it was delicious and nicely paced as well.

yeah, I've only been a couple of times recently but this wasn't my experience... maybe a staff miscue on your visit



My only real issue is the exclusion of Rosie Cannonball... it is definitely a top 100 restaurant in the greater Houston area. it runs circles in terms of consistency, service and offerings compared to several on this list.


Edit: a couple of other nit piks - Roots wine bar? should not be on this list Nobie's is a top 10 restaurant. should be no 7, IMO.

I can only speak for myself, but for once it would be pretty cool if someone like this brought out my philly rolls and miso.

Hamsa is one of our favorite places. Or was. Probably going to change now.

Doing their Yalla Yalla experience was amazing for the price. We thought it would be one or 2 things at a time for 3 or 4 times and it was way more than anything the 4 of us could eat.

I think it ended up being 4-7 items each time for 4 or 5 courses.

A number of places are. I've been to V&A several times now and while it has flashes of great, it's mediocre->middlin at best.

What do you not like? Had great meals every time I've been. The wait can suck, though.

Agreed on the wait. I'll preface by saying I don't dislike the place. They have flashes of greatness and I do like supporting small independent spots. It's nowhere near top 25. With that said:

Gumbo is hit or miss. First bowl was lights out, second was so salty we couldn't even eat it, they did nothing. Third was WAY too much roux.

Fried fish was good but nothing special.

Sticky chicken is weird, unlike anything I've ever had outside of a Chinese restaurant.

Smothered pork chops were middling quality and rice wasn't cooked enough.

Sides also hit or miss. Red beans and rice are super spicy for our taste (obviously that's a preference thing), butter beans were ok, cucumber salad is good.

Crackers are ALWAYS stale, though that's pretty authentic to NOLA.

Pappas seafood was one of my favorites too but the new place is great as you'd expect. Don't know about #1 restaurant in Houston though.

Bad timing for #5. Thought it said something different.

I love me some Tita's but I don't know how they're ranking these taquerias. There's almost zero difference in about 99% of them and there are dozens of places that are every bit as good. Maybe they don't have the longevity but that's not really a reason to be ranked, IMHO.
