Why so many companies declining coverage? Do you live in a risky area and/or have a long history of claims? Or is this just a sign of the times?

A couple of years ago, was in a wreck when a drunk driver pulled out in front me. State Farm not only covered my barely one year old car cost (it was totaled), but provided me with enough to put a good down payment on my new car. They also went after the drunk driver's insurance and I got my deductible back too.

A year later the third car involved in the wreck sued the drunk driver and me. State Farm provided the law firm for to represent me. After the deposition, the third party decided to drop me and just go after the drunk driver's insurance.

Also, the day my apartment was broken into (2007), that night my agent came over and provided a written check based on estimates of property stolen.

I have been very happy with State Farm. They have insured my mother and most of my family since the 1980's (our agent is one of my friend's Dad).

It is a sign of the times. Had the same issue with a house in league city. No claims, not in 500 year etc etc.

This is an old post but 12Power, would you mind sending me the attorneys name. Currently have a significant water damage claim that my insurance is giving the run around on. Looking for an attorney that works with homeowners.
