Do you mind sharing what your total cost was for that?

There is an Aggie owned and operated pool supply store in the Cypress area - Pinch A Penny Pool Patio and Spa near the corner of Spring Cypress and Skinner. My wife and I own it, Class of 98 and 97. We'd be happy to help with anything pool related: chemicals, equipment, cleaning and repairs. (832) 363-5204.

Amazon Pool Cooler

These work really well for my pool in Austin. I have 4 of them and run the pump overnight for 8-9 hours. It keeps the pool 6-7 degrees cooler than without them.

My parents have a Glacier and it works great. Drops the pool temp 6-8 degrees during the summer which makes a huge difference. We're putting one in our pool that we're building, and it's $4K-$5K if I remember right. Our contractor said Glacier's lead times are 5-7 weeks right now.

I may be reaching out shortly. I've gotta get this chiller looked at - my regular maintenance guy says he thinks there's a leak in one of the welds for a unit that is less than 9 months old.

We put a shade sail up over a large portion of the shallow end of our pool and I am blown away how much it has dropped the pool temps. It went from bathwater to downright chilly. Would definitely recommend and it would save you thousands.

Can you please share brand/model/installer? I have thought about this but never had a recommendation.

I just bought one off of Amazon and we had the infrastructure in place to hang it without needing anything. 2 ends are attached to columns on my home, one on to a pavilion thing in the backyard and the 4th on to a tree. The lead to the tree is a little long than I would like but it works for us.

I really am blown away by the amount it dropped the temps. My kids are complaining its too cold ha. That is ridiculous, but it is definitely super cold.

As someone who lives in Dallas and has mature trees all over the yard this concept is extremely foreign to me.

I don't think my pool passed 93 this summer even when it was hitting 108 for days on end.

Hell I won't swim after next weekend.

We've got a ton of trees too but from about 1000 to 1700 or 1800 or so there is sun besting down on the pool just because of where it is situated. It got bathwater warm.

What is odd is that the pool in our last house had ZERO cover and never ever got warm at all. As a matter of fact, it was almost uncomfortably cold most of the year.

Sun starts hitting pool at 1200 and suns behind other trees by 1730. Some part of the pool is almost always in the shade.

When I built the pool I wanted to feel like I was floating down the guad, so we left a lot of overhanging cover. It works for us because my brown wife likes to float in the sun and my pasty ass stands in the shade and drinks.

93 is bath water for most people.

Maybe. Probably much you can do when it's 108 for five days in row, 98 at midnight and 85 in the morning.

But I'm not getting in the pool until it gets to 80 though. It was 98 degrees today so pool was back to 82-84. For me that is plenty cool.

I realize that's probably on the warm end for many people.

Funny thing my last boss lives in flower mound and is from North Dakota. He said he starts getting in when the water hits 70.

Flower mister

We bought 4 flower misters and it is incredible how much they drop the temp. We are in our pool daily in the summer and it's been the topic of conversation. We haven't had a thermometer all summer and I bought one yesterday. The temp was 87 and it felt warmer than usual.

As someone who lives in Monaco and has perfect temperatures year round, this concept is extremely foreign to me.

I don't think my pool has ever passed 80, even during the heat wave when temps hit 85 four days in a row.

Of course, my servants are instructed to rotate the water with wooden oars to maintain equilibrium.
