So I totally screwed up, just arrived for a 6 day stay with my wife and daughter and the place I rented is actually one street away from pointe West which means we aren't in the community and can't access the pool.

Does anyone have a connection or own property in pointe West that could possibly get us on the wristband list? I'm not sure if they sell guest passes to non residents.

Happy to venmo money if someone can help us out.

As an alternative, could you purchase a small pool? Academy is on the Seawall. Just trying to make lemonade.

Went to Crystal Beach a few weeks ago and I had a tar ball stuck to the side of my leg. It was damn near impossible to get off without soap/chemicals. I remember as a kid stepping on little tar balls but nothing in the last 30+ years. Was there an oil spill or something?

I'm not sure I classify galveston bay or ocean as swimmable water. I certainly will never get in that water

Well, at least with all the silt and trash in the water you can't even see the sharks.

too bad... I say drive over to Surfside and go to the beach and drink too much and you'll forget about the pool that will be hot and full of people you don't want to be around, most likely

Yes those are the rules if you're a guest or a friend of an owner. They don't sell passes/wristbands for non guests, so there's no day pass option or anything like that.

And I love the elitist attitude towards Galveston and the beaches here, lol. Sorry my family isn't as fortunate as yours to spend glamorous vacations in Tahiti or whatever.

It's just a weekend getaway thing we do once a year. Nobody's claiming Galveston is going to claim any top 10 beaches list, but our family enjoys it for a change of scenery and if you don't or you're too good for Galveston, hey more power to you.

No sheet. We love Galveston. To claim it is some unswimmable sewer just tells me that you either have never been there or are a poon. You want to see unswimmable beaches? Go to Cancun or Playa and see the sargassum wrecked water there.

There is a grown man here who is afraid to get in the water in Galveston?

It's a great place to take your family. Ideally in May/early June or Late Sept/October though. But we went to Bolivar a few wknds ago and had a blast and plan on doing the same tomorrow.

We go early October every year long school holiday weekend and it is great. Not crowded. Water is still warm, but not boiling, and usually very clear.

We have gone mid-October several times and it has been amazing weather and water conditions each time. One of the best kept secrets is that time of year.

Was on Surfside Beach last weekend and the tar was certainly plentiful but what was crazy was the amount of baitfish swimming along the shore. I've grown up on that beach and have seen fish around the shore tons, but it was like thousands and thousands just swimming constantly all around everywhere I looked while out in the water.

I started to get kind of nervous on what was holding them all there.
