My wife is bummed, this was her favorite theater. Was awesome when it opened over 10 years ago, but hasn't been the same since Regal took it over and after COVID. I prefer the nearby Star Cinema Grill, guess we will be going there from now on.

Edit...it's closing for two weeks. Cinemark purchased it.

Went there just last Thursday to see Oppenheimer and thought to myself "Damn, this place is pretty dumpy"

As the Palladium it was pretty neat, as Regal it sucked.

We now pretty much exclusively go to Star Cinema Grill.

Agree that the place was a lot of fun when it was the Paladium and definitely lost a lot of it's luster when Regal took over. Then the pandemic all but killed it. Caught a movie there last summer and it was downright depressing how rundown and empty it was. There were literally 2 people working- one near the ticket kiosks and one in the concession stand. Pretty much everything was self-serve: tickets, drinks, etc.

Drove by that place for years on my way to work, first watching that building go up and then finally after it opened. Went once to see some sci-fi flick. Early on it was an impressive theater.

Then went last year to see Top Gun Maverick. The seats were like sitting on rocks, the ambiance was not at all like it had been about a decade earlier, and we haven't been back.

Sheesh. I wonder what they're going to do with it? Its a huge edifice.

I echo the comments on how the Palladium was nice - cool concept and offered more. Once Regal took over it definitely went downhill.

Star Cinema Grill has been our go-to lately as well.

Saw that news earlier and wasn't surprised. I've driven past some weekend middays recently and there weren't 20 cars in the parking lot.

Back when it was owned by Santikos, they used to broadcast Aggie football games there, and the Katy A&M Club would do giveaways, etc. That was fun.

It's got good bones, so it will just change hands over and over for years to come. A place that big has to be expensive to maintain. I havent seen a movie there in years, and im pretty sure i bowled more games than movies watched.

It has several bars, marketed right, it could be a big money maker as that's where theaters make their $$$.

But it would have to be very aggressive and reconfigure theaters to match Star Cinema. It would probably be pretty difficult and a risk with significant marketing.... which would be difficult as most home living room theaters compare.

I don't even have a great system, 60", 5.1 sound with decent Klipsch speakers (most are reference 20yrs old) but I'm pretty damn happy and my wife wants an 80" on the wall....which I can't argue with. The only thing theaters have is better sound these days. And it's totally worth if for SOME movies.

The 2 things missing from my house is a dedicated bar and home theater room. Could also be 1 room. Which I'd love.

Who wants to give me $60K?

That place opened when I lived in the area. Impressive facility but it was too big and they never kept up with the cleanliness of it from the jump. I'm also very certain my credit card got skimmed there on one of their ticket machines years ago.

Took my boy to see TMNT here tonight. Was hoping for a bit of a refresh, though they couldn't have done much in so little time. Nope. Still crappy and run down with cracked nasty seats.

Hopefully the new ownership will fix it up.
