Has anybody had the pizza from the place next to Devil and the Deep? I really like Devil and the Deep, but the food is never open next door.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

So headed for a long weekend down on the island. Any of these places kid friendly?

We typically just hit up Fisherman's Wharf and grab a seat on the patio but would like to try something different this time around.
Take your kids to Cordray Drug Store on Avenue L for rolled ice cream.

The Cordrays are the couple (Aggies from A&M-Galveston) who have the historic home renovation show. Used to be on HGTV; now it's on Magnolia Network, I believe???

The husband's family ran a drug store in Galveston for many years. The couple brought back the name, renovated an old building, and now sell ice cream there. It's definitely worth a stop with kids, but be prepared to wait awhile.

Went to a new place last week -- Doc Holliday's Roadhouse. It's in the old Tortuga Cantina location on the Seawall near 61st.

The theme is a little different for a beach town, and the restaurant is probably a bit overdone in terms of decor. But the food and service were both good.

We saw lots of kids there, so it's definitely a family place.

Best part: They play the movie "Tombstone" on a loop on televisions at both ends of the restaurant. And they have Tiki Wheat from Galveston Island Brewing on tap.
