I would argue that it is much more dangerous than DWI, second for second at least, if that makes sense. And throwing out the extreme 0.3 - 0.4 BAC outliers where someone is just blacked out and not at all in control.

(1) Altima with paper plates
(2) Any nissan (paper plates or normal)
(3) Honda Odyssey.
(4) Things dangling off the rearview mirror (the longer the worse)
(5) Tree air freshners off the rearview.

Any of those things...and I automatically know they are going to do something absolutely stupid in the 20 seconds I'm watching them.

Yeah, I think it is perfectly normal to honk almost daily inside the loop. Way too many traffic lights, etc., and construction zones as of late creating confusion adds to the madness. I have a one honk unofficial quota daily it seems. I had a lady in a Mercedes SUV at Memorial exit to Pierce elevated on ramp on her phone in right turn lane last month. I do the polite honk tap she gets pissed turns real fast and when I turn behind her she slams on her brakes on the ramp, I had enough space and time to just swerve around her but she was waving that phone hand at me like I did something wrong.

I noticed in several bigger cities not in Texas that was a thing - the nanosecond a light turns green, people are honking for you to hit the gas.

Probably the same people that turn their emergency flashers on when it rains.

I'd definitely cut him some slack, because odds are this wasn' the only traffic related enraging thing that happened to him - it was just the one that finally pushed him over the line.

I absolutely despise about 95% of the drivers on the road because they are all stupid, should never be allowed to drive and are all self centered *******s that have the inability to pay attention to the world around them and drive with a little bit of common sense.

It would be so nice if cops would actually enforce laws that promote good driving and better traffic flow versus stupid things like speeding, inspection stickers, etc.

If someone ever asks why communism doesn't work, give them the example of driving. Driving should be the most communist thing in the world: everyone should do everything in their power to get yourself and others to where they are going as quickly and efficiently as possible. But, most won't move out of the left lane to let others pass, take their logical place in a merge and instead either split two lanes so no one else can get by or speed all the way to the front of the merge and make the entire lane use their brakes to let that person in, don't pay attention at lights causing others to have to wait, go out of order at a 4-way stop and cause others to wait, or just don't go when it is their turn and create an even worse headache, act like they are out for a Sunday drive and won't approach the speed limit, don't use the on ramp as an opportunity to get up to highway speed so they can merge more easily, ignore any traffic signs about exit lanes or merges and wait until the last second regardless of anyone else behind them, disregard yield signs, pull out in front of you and slowly accelerate so that you have to slow down, cut you off so they can immediately make a right hand turn instead of getting is behind you even though there is a large gap it traffic behind you, etc.

If people can't make driving work for the betterment of everyone, people can't make society work using communism.

The people I domt understand are the ones that will pull up to a traffic light that has 2 or more lanes and stay in the lane that has 40 cars when either other lane only has a couple. It is all the proof you need to realize that most people are just livestock with opposable thumbs perfectly content to do whatever the person in front of them is doing instead of paying attention to their surroundings and doing the smart thing.

On the merge - gotta disagree. The zipper method is the only method that should be implemented, and it is done best at the merge point, not a half mile back.

The left lane is the passing lane, and unfortunately there isn't a cop agency in Texas that actually enforces it. Sure AF isn't one along the 288 corridor that enforces it. The other stuff you said - 100%.

Which is why I have the outlook I do about the human race and generally am already mad by the time I get out of my driveway every day when I have to drive. I know what I'll deal with before I have to deal with it.

I was trying to convey the zipper method - that's why I mentioned the car that decides to straddle both lanes so no one in the other lane can better line up. To me "logical spot" means forming a zipper line with the other merging cars.
