All I know is that Tully Stadium was awesome back in the day.

Every now and then a thread like this one comes back to life, and I read the whole thing without remembering any of it.

Then I see a brilliant comment and I think to myself, "Damn, I totally agree with that statement!"

Only to realize I was the one who posted it.

ETA: My high school had the honor -- or misfortune -- of being the only non-Spring Branch school in District 17-4A, I believe it was. So we had as many games at Tully as we did at home.

I saw the video this morning. Don't know who's who in it or what happened before, but the kid that got his leg broke ran into the side of the car driving off. Looks like he was trying to dent it or something and came out worse.

Also saw video. Pretty dumb all the way around.

Reason the kid ran out in the first place is because the kids in the car were paintballing the house. No bueno.

Fall Tully vibes as a kid in the 80's.

Still great nowadays, but I remember when parents would take you and then just let you run loose...mostly up and down the hills with all of the other kids.

Nostalgic every time I walk in or drive by. I hope they never demo that stadium.

Saw Tompkins lay a volleyball beat down on Memorial last night Coleman Coliseum. Hadn't stepped foot in there in 20+ years for a graduation ceremony. Place is a time capsule.

Man...Tully was a huge deal back in the early 90s man.

Of course, back then the AstroTurf was like playing on a cheese grater.

As for the "rivalry," at first I thought.. "kids these days." Then I tried to recall what went on when I was there....Yeah, this is all par for the course. Not saying its right, but it is consistent.

Ha no doubt. I can close my eyes and smell the place. I was standing right in front of Coleman when I found out Tupac had died on a friday night in 1996. F man, now I'm goin through all of that all over again

Yeah, it got pretty bad in the mid-late 90's. Not really violent, just pretty bad vandalism and trenching of yards.

Lee Naughty Dogs were the ones who got violent back then and you had to watch your 6 at the gas stations around Memorial and Dairy Ashford.

Yep. Pretty sure the guy that owned the turf around the HEB back in 1998 is now a VP at CBRE. Pretty crazy to think he likely has multiple people's blood on his hands is now managing major RE projects in EaDo.

Allegedly kids were caught and cars were towed. I'm barely into the popcorn and standing by for additional updates.

Rumor is that one of the drivers crashed into a parked SUV on account of his bushy bangs and it left no outlet for his fellow broccoli haired homies.

Actually, I could see memorial kids considering themselves above that ridiculous hair style, and just sticking with the classic and timeless commercial real estate broker/Kirby Smart/Eli Drinkiwitz hair styles.

This has gotta be every white memorial kid's hair, right?

If a former naughty dawg, can't rule out him having ties to some of the bodies being found in the bayous lately. It's worth a quick look...

Yup, this comment dates me, but yeah....recalling some of the shenannigans (a light term to use). I don't recall outright personal violence (like being jumped).

Coleman is still pretty great. It could use an update but still a great place.

Tully is a dump and the turf is hated by everyone, including SBISD coaches.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

Back in 1991 or 1992 some of us ran in to a few tough guys at West Oaks Mall who were chumps. Were threatening to call up the naughty dogs on us. At least now that I hear that term again, that is what I think they were saying. So stupid. They were all little twerps and one taller super skinny dude. Nearly got dealt with.

We're on the Stratford side of this, but nice job Harris County judges...let's leave these kids in jail while people are murdering someone and then out on bond the next day.

Jr. or Sr. year, some of those dudes tried to roll up on us for no reason at a house party near Eldridge and we worked them hard in the middle of the street. Ass. Whoopin.

They were loud barkers, especially the smaller ones (like terriers lol), but they only did damage if they caught you by yourself, or massively outnumbered.

There's gotta be one or two on here now...come out wherever you are, it's all water under the bridge!

Exactly. It's like there really are two different "justice" systems. Trying as adults and hitting them with felonies...I'm fine with it, as long as we are being consistent regardless of demographics or race. But we are not...all too often we are letting violent career criminals with serius rap sheets out to kill, rape and maim innocent people. In the name of "social justice" or "black girl magic" or whatever.

We were from Kempner. Had no clue what naughty dogs were. So we said call them up and just kind of waited. They just left and that was it. Weird group of knuckle heads. West Oaks shenanigans.

Haha

It's a really awful name for a gang that wants to be taken seriously.

I'm waiting to hear the story of a modern day Ponyboy out there who will resurrect the old beef between the Soc's and Greasers (Stratford). Typical back story for the area. The haves vs have-nots. An older brother who had dreams of playing linebacker at A&M. They moved around a lot. Started in low end apts along Westview, until the gentrification forced them to move out into the slums of townhomes somewhere on Dairy Ashford. Forced to ride the schoolbus when they see the Volvos or scat packs in student parking lots. After mom dies, it's all on him. So Ponyboy and his gang go around terrorizing their new hood, let them know who runs it now.

ChatGPT, please depict the typical member of the Brotrons from the mid 1990's, with jewelry and martial arts weaponry purchased from the Antique Mall between Brittmoore and Wycliffe...holding cash for purchasing mad dogs, swisher sweets and nudie mags from the Wilcrest Sunny's....
