Looking for some recommendations for an orthopedic doctor in the SW Houston or Med Center area.

Jason Ahuero at Methodist. He really listened to me and worked with me on the best course of treatment for my foot. He has a pretty high threshold for getting out the scalpel, which I appreciated.

Provenzano at I-10 and Campbell, roughly.

You or child? My brother in law, and good Ag letterman, Dr Alfred Mansour is one of the best orthos in the country, and in med center.

Wife shattered her ankle and had to get plates and screws

Dr Varner with Methodist in med center. Is Texans team dr, Houston ballet dr, and him and his wife are both Aggies.

He travelled to the draft a day late to stay and do my wife's surgery

Dr. William McGarvey. Considered one of the best in the country for foot & ankle.

Thank you for the replies.

ccolley68 - The request is for myself.

aTm2004 - Why do you say Dr. McGarvey is considered one of the best in the country for foot and ankle ?

Not getting into too much detail...but my one of my children needed to see an ortho and the ortho that treated it majorly screwed it up because of, well, laziness. We went to another ortho who recommended we go see McGarvey, who ultimately treated the child back to health and only did surgery when absolutely needed, though some damage will be lifelong.

As you'd expect, we took legal action against the original ortho, and their insurance attorneys and practice manager were playing hardball during settlement negotiations until our attorney brought up McGarvey's notes. The practice manager said "[child] is seeing McGarvey?" and you could see them perk up and their body language visibly change, as did their tone and willingness to reach a settlement before going to court where they knew they'd ultimately lose. Also, my mom worked in the medical field for >30 years, and when this happened, she reached out to some orthos she knew, who gave her some recommendations. Though the lists differed by doc, McGarvey was a common recommendation.

The TMB also took action against the original ortho. The sad thing is, that ortho is an Ag, but I'd cut his finger off with a rusty dull knife to take his ring and throw it into a furnace if given the chance.

aTm2002 - Thank you for the reply. That's a tough situation and I want you to know that I didn't mean to re-open new wounds.

For the other replies, thank you very much. TexAgs rarely disappoints. Gig 'Em !

You're not re-opening any wounds, because what happened is an important, but small, chapter in his life. He's doing great, and outside of a pretty gnarly scar, is back to being a normal kid. I had my breakdown a couple years ago, but am thankful that what we went through is nothing compared to what some other kids and their parents have to go through. It's all about perspective.

I'm not aTm2004 but I've been fortunate to have Dr. McGarvey operate on my ankle.

I live in Austin but originally travelled to Katy to see him because nobody in Austin was doing ankle replacements at the time.

I have a family member that sold orthopedics who recommended him as well as a Radialogist that is a buddy of mine who sees his before and after film.

I've sent friends to him and my Radialogist buddy had McGarvey operate on is own child although it wasn't an ankle.

The man is a perfectionist and his results show that.

Because he'll tell you that when you talk to him.

Just kidding. I deal with McGarvey on a regular basis. That whole group UT Physicians Orthopedics is top notch. McGarvey, Camarillo, Worsham, Harvin, Mundluru (pedi ortho) Simonich Wasserman, et al. The facilities are great also.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Sorry, super late reply, hips are his specialty, especially with older kids and adults (lots of youth gymnasts and hockey players have hip problems apparently), but he's an ortho who can do anything. Done several friends kids broken arms.

Who was the original? Who to avoid is important.

I cannot say because I'm not sure what the legal side of things allow me to say.

Ah. Settlement with privacy clauses? Nothing in the public lawsuit record?

Not sure if there's a privacy clause, but I'm not going to risk it because the doc is an Ag and may post on TA.
