License Plate Look Up

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I remember somewhere around here being able to look up license plate numbers.

Reason I'm asking is because we had a person in a blue F150 drive thru our neighborhood on Sunday afternoon and ask some of the girls (including one of my daughters) if they wanted to get in and go for a ride.

It's a common thing for our kids and other neighborhood kids to be playing out front. We adults check on them often but haven't always been out there 100% (now we are)

Anyways. We did find an f150 in a nearby neighborhood that looks very close to what we have seen in security videos. We know this may not be the same truck - but no one knows this person in this house with the truck as they are renters somewhat new to the area.

Shot in the dark here. Let me know if anyone can do this or how to do this.

File a police report providing the make, model and license plate. Hopefully it will be entered into the database linked below. If LE comes across the vehicle, it sends an real-time alert out about the vehicle and it's location.

OB is usually good with this stuff. Post there as well.

Is the plate you have from the actual truck seen driving and approaching kids or just the one you located?

Roughly how old are the girls and how old did they guestimate the driver to be (assuming they saw him)? Just curious if we are talking about an old perv trying to lure 12 year olds, or a HS sophomore trying to get fresh with some 8th or 9th graders? The former is pretty frightening.

Girls were 8 and 5.

They just said an older man with glasses, a moustache, and an Astros hat.

Pretty damn disgusting.

Plate is just the one we located. We couldn't get plates from the videos.

Truck is an exact match of the video (from what we can see - Blue, chrome wheels, chrome bumpers, chrome running boards)

Stake out time. Sit down the street and see if anyone matching that description comes/goes in said truck. At least then you will have more info for a report.

There are more aggressive ways to verify and address his inappropriate behavior but not knowing more details this is probably the safest bet.

Right off the bat use the Texas sex offender registry to confirm no one at the address is registered.

Use whitepages.com to get some names at the address. Sometimes it takes a while for them to populate the current occupants so it may not be accurate. Take the names to facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc. to get photos that match the description. Ask your daughter and friends to confirm.

If you're successful,
1. Notify police.
2. Use HCAD to get the owner information and notify the owner/landlord.

The Woodlands? I would do the following

Wait outside and verify a man fitting description drives blue truck. If/when that checks out approach him outside of his vehicle (so you can see everything he's doing) and explain a man fitting his description, driving a similar vehicle was seen approaching underage children. Leave no doubt it won't be tolerated in your community and everyone is now watching.

Renters so easy for him to pick up and move once life gets uncomfortable. Makes sure he sees you often and watching. Make sure LEOs are aware of the encounter. Smoke his ass out.

I agree with the course of action.

Main plan now is to get some pics and have the girls verify. Then contact police.

If verified before and we see him again then it may not go so well.

Girls did the right thing. The 8 year old screamed and ran to our backyard with the 5 year old and got me and my wife.

Good course of action here too once confirmed.

This sounds like an awful idea.

Now this guy knows what you look like, knows what vehicle you drive, and where you live (or he can easily find out).

If he's the kinda guy to approach young girls he's not the kinda guy I want pissed at me and certainly not the kind of guy I want to give motive to if my girls are regularly outside playing.

I'd say confirm this is the guy then take the info to the police, HOA, neighborhood Facebook groups, etc. I just wouldn't approach him on my own on his turf.

Fair enough. If it's my daughter I'm making sure this fella knows he picked the wrong one. Obviously after verifying the above but to each their own. Just too many examples of these clowns sliding by for my taste.

Hopefully the OP has no future issues and his kiddos are safe to play as kids should.

As a father to two young girls I hear you loud and clear.

I just think there are safer more tactful methods to get the point across and handle it than walking up to the guy in his domain and throwing around these kinds of accusations (confirmed or not).

Just hope the OP is aware that he also needs to be safe and rational in his reaction.

Thanks for all of the advice.

And yes - this is not an accusation to be taken lightly. I'll need to figure out who this guy is then verify if it was him, and my eye witnesses are just children with creative minds.

I'm hoping it's not the neighbor in the adjacent neighborhood - however that vehicle matches at this point.

If you know the truck is parked at a particular address in the neighborhood then run the address through the Montgomery County CAD property search. It will give you the name of the owner. Of course if he is renting that may not help much.

That was the right way to handle your 7th grade bully.

That's not the right way to handle a potential predator who lives nearby. You could just be making yourself or your kids into bigger targets, assuming you even have the right guy. And if it's the wrong guy, he might also wish to let YOU know that you have the wrong guy.

At least let parents in the neighborhood what happened, give them a picture of the suspected vehicle so they are all on alert. Tell them if they see it to get the license plate, and to call the cops. Make sure no kids are out after dark, and if they are, always make sure an adult is outside with them. Also get apple air tags (too cheap not to have) that the kids can keep separate of their cell phones (Kidnappers I'm sure will toss phones out the window right away), but you can more easily hide an airtag on an anklet, key ring, etc that kidnappers may not think to search for right away. Also, Ring doorbells with the lights taped over, sounds muted, and attached to trees near the road can help recording license plates (mainly during the day, too much reflection at night usually). I mounted one to a tree next to where I park my truck after it was broken into in the fall (and hide an airtag inside of it).

Like the other said, no need for you to go chasing him or making yourself a target.

ETA: You can report this to the cops, and simply request more of their presence in the neighborhood. They dont always have the personnel obviously, but if cops are noticed more in the area, maybe the dirt bags will stay away.

If confirmed...

Seriously though, as a girl dad, who wants to raise his daughter to be comfortable playing outside with her friends, this type of sh** is both frightening and infuriating. I think the punishment for even creeping on little girls like this should be hard time, I'd be fine with death. Yes, if you are asking little girls if they want to go for a ride with you, you are deserving of death imo.

Well - it's not the blue ford in the nearby neighborhood.

The neighborhood has been notified and everyone is on the look out.

That's good.

Might want to try and notify neighboring hoods. Odds are he is comfortable in the general area maybe not just your immediate neighborhood.
