Anyone know where in the Houston area to get a TV recycled? Seems like the model is the following:

Option 1: Take to recycle service, give them money and they recycle.
Option 2: Take to curb and it goes away without giving money.
Option 3: Get a buddy with a truck and let it fly on freeway. (Thank you to redazag99)

Pain in the ass. Guess I could just drop off at Whole Foods and that would balance out.

FYI: Harris County Waste Items

Option 3 would be the most in line with Harris County and stuff to hit on freeway.

Edit - Option 3

Your nearest freeway with your tailgate open

Option 4: take it to goodwill. If they ask, it works and you would like a receipt for your taxes.

Option 4A: Take to goodwill when they are not open and just unload it. Lots of goodwill locations have loads of stuff in front or out back just sitting there.

I recommend this option. The last couple of times I've tried to donate to Goodwill, they have refused my drop off claiming they already have too much stuff and are overwhelmed. This was at multiple different locations.

Good will is the answer. Get the blank receipt. You'll be amazed how much old TVs retain (or increase) in value once they are donated.

if it were a plasma, the Nerdery folks would be lining up around the block to take it off your hands

I have an old plasma tv in working order. Why the demand for them on the nerdery?

just an old call-back to the nerdery days when Plasma TV's were the future.

I think they all bet on BetaMax and HD-DVD as well.
