Ill just wait for an on-demand green hydrogen fuel cell.
that's coming... but will still likely work best with a storage component (battery)

I've had several solar quotes and the best quote I've received (based on shoddy assumptions to begin with) was $0.14 per kWh to cover 100% of my existing need for 25 years. Doesn't make sense.

yeah, that's generally the issue in Texas. Our power rates are reasonable and not much savings unless rates keep rising. Unless you just want the ability to be in control and have backup during a weather event...

Also not everyone has the income where the tax credit benefits them to the full amount (if they are buying the system).

I am not sure who you are getting quotes from, but I just got a quote for solar plus a 22kw Generac backup generator from a poster here on Texags that would cover 100% of my existing needs for 25 years at ~ $0.126/kWh. They didn't break it out separately, but I am assuming without the backup generator, the solar price alone would be ~$0.096/kWh. Neither cost takes into account the 26% federal tax credit. Panels are guaranteed to produce 83.5% of rated output in year 30 and have a 25 year warranty on the panels.

Do you mind sharing where you got the quotes from?

I got a quote via Howdyags12! howdyags12!'s profile | TexAgs I won't post the company he works for or his name, since he sent that to me in private, but based on my personal background digging, the solar company has a good reputation and has been around a long time, starting as an electrical contractor. Reach out to him via PM and I bet he would be glad to talk to you and get you a quote.

This is worth watching before you buy any solar.

you can find a youtube video about anything, good or bad so this isn't some shocking revelation

but I wouldn't recommend Tesla solar based on what little I know.
