Been hearing the construction at bush airport is causing a lot of traffic.. has anyone traveled recently and if so how long is it taking you to get there and through to your gates?

Just did it last week. Go through terminal B and take the sky rail. Terminals E and C were mobbed. When you come back take the sky rail and Uber out of B as well.

I park offsite at Ecopark on JFK. Get picked up, dropped off and through the gate usually in under 30 min. Maybe mine is a rare occurrence, I only fly once a month or so but I don't find it that problematic, more so when I'm trying to pick someone up.

This is the correct answer....our entire office has been doing this for months. The only exception is coming back international you end up outside security and have to take the almost 50 year old basement train outside security back to B which a few weeks ago was an absolute #@$!-show.

And if you get a nice delay and arrive after the crappy train is closed for the night? That's a fun walk. Especially with golf clubs.

I left out Friday. Went through B and returned in D on Sunday morning. No big delay. If you take the A/B parking entrance you bypass a lot of the traffic

This is the way.

For a bonus, I pre-booked valet for the first time. I will be doing it again forever. Worth every penny.

Left Friday parked at Term B and flew out of C. On my return flight now. Has been the best advice I've ever received on TexAgs as I travel several times a month.

Reserve a spot in the A/B parking garage. Saves a little money, too:

This past weekend I also parked off-site at the Fine on Airport Blvd just off of JFK. It was 15-20 minutes from when I parked to when I cleared security. Pick up on return was 10 minutes from boarding the shuttle to exiting the parking lot. Total cost for 3 days of parking: $24.55 all inclusive.

Thanks for the tip, just reserved for AB via this link for a trip this week.
Traveling with golf clubs was a cluster last time with off site parking. Sunday after arrival, the Parking Spot shuttles had zero coordination and was a mad house trying to get on one back to the lot. We ended up taking an Uber to the PS that trip.

Parking Spot on JFK has been a disaster for a while. Long wait times for shuttles both departing and returning. I pretty much gave up on them and moved on. Fine bought the lot at Hobby just across from the airport, and their service is outstanding, so when I was looking for PS alternatives at IAH I saw they are just up the street and gave them a shot. Glad I did. Much more customer-friendly service.

For only about five more bucks a day you can park in terminal garage parking at IAH.

I don't see that price. I see $24 per day on the website. But I haven't spent a lot of time actually investigating.

I tried to leave at Bush and the parking garages at the terminal didn't have an overnight/daily rate.

Eventually I just canceled my flight. Usually fly out of Hobby, and did so last weekend. Bush was a complete CF.

Is ecopark a cluster if I'm going to Terminal A or not bad? Considering that or terminal parking.

We recently flew out of B. Parked at Parking Spot 1 Will Clayton this time and got on the bus, dropped off at the terminal, and through security in under 30 minutes.

That said, the valet at the terminal was mighty tempting.

EcoPark is usually pretty painless. Even at Terminals A/B, I usually wait 5-10 minutes max for a shuttle.

This works when I fly Carry on only. Any good way to manage getting back to B with checked bag other than the old mine train ?

I do the AB thing as well, regardless of Terminal. But I never have bags.

But if I need to drop folks for a C flight, and they DO have bags, is AB terminals + train, still viable option?
LondonAg89

yes but it's the little underground tram because you are outside security

I dropped my bag at B on Monday for a domestic flight on United out of E. No issues with bags. Took the sky way over.

Done this multiple times this year. This is the way to do it, it's been posted on here multiple times.

You have to ride the weird underground Jonny cab train to get back though because you have to leave security to get your bags.

For all the improvements at IAH over the past few years, the underground terminal transfer tunnel is still the most depressing places I've ever been in. It's like stepping into 1986.

IAH Underground Train

"Opened in 1969 along with the airport, the train system was replaced in 1981 with the current WEDway system, built by WED Transportation Systems, a division of what is now known as Walt Disney Imagineering.... It uses much of the mechanical technology used by the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, an attraction in the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland."

Traveling out of E today and had the driver drop me off at B to avoid traffic. You now have to get off the intra-terminal train at C and walk to the other side to get to the train that takes you to D/E.

Not a big deal but I was glad I was paying attention
TX_AG_10

Was this the Above Grounds People Mover/ Skyway? The Intra terminal train(ITT/Subway) is a loop and I don't ever recall it operating where you have to get off and switch trains/cars.
LondonAg89

Yes its the above ground when you're already past security.

This is new since the last time I did this which was in late June. You have to change in C to get to the other terminal you may be trying to go to.
