Bringing this back up again. What advice do you have on pool financing? A home refinance is out because I'm not messing with my low rate. Between a HELOC, home equity loan and personal loan, any of these make sense more than the other?

With our impending recession, when are we going to start seeing some deals?
From the three builders I've met with it sounds like they have enough work to keep them busy for a while. I'd imagine they would work through their current backlog and see what happens before they start looking at any kind of deals.

Anyone built a pool in the Spring/Tomball/Woodlands area lately with a strong referral?
We are bidding the project with Creekstone but want to get 3-4 bids to keep all the pencils sharp.

Carnahan's Pools and Landscaping did ours. We had a good experience with them.

Epik Pools did ours last year. We live in the woodlands. Couldn't have been more happy.
Lone Star Pools. Great experience. Rocky, the owner, is great, and all the subs were top notch.
Aquascapes does great work. Owner is a great guy too.
I had a horrible pool building experience.
Sean at Aquascapes heard about my story and offered to finish the pool at his cost. I ended up going with another company, but Sean had his crew out to clean up some mess left by the other contractor and even came by to "winterize" my unfinished pool before a freeze. Sean is good people.

We ended up going with Luxe Outdoors for our Pool and Outdoor Living space. The project came in on budget, on schedule, and they exceeded our expectations at every turn.cbminers said:

What other pool builders did you bid and why did you ultimately decide on who you used?
Ultimately came down to Luxe clearly differentiating themselves when it came down to the details on the design, their willingness to work through my bid and design process, and going above and beyond dealing with The Woodlands Township permitting.
