Is it worth it? Will we have any access to any tents? I'm assuming we will have GA admittance to the music stage.

Send me the pros and cons!!

You will have to spend $20 each to get on the grounds where the Cook-off is. In the past, that gives you the right to get some barbecue with the general public, (it may be a barbecue sandwich.) Then they have an entertainer each night in the public area. On Friday night it's Pat Green, and on Saturday night it is Roger Creager. If you want to try and get into a private tent, those wristbands will cost you upwards of $100 each. It ends at 11 PM each night.

If there's a performer you REALLY want to see and don't mind paying $20 plus cost of beer and food standing around in a festival environment then it's not bad.

If there's not a performer you REALLY want to see you'll feel so poor and unprivileged.

Don't think of it as going to a bbq cook-off, but more of going to the rodeo carnival with a concert happening outside. If dealing with the traffic, paying to park, and standing outside all night worth it to get a fried oreo, play some carney games, and see a music act, then go. But the odds of you getting in a tent for some free food and booze is slim unless you have a connection.

If you like the performer, it's like going to any other outdoor county festival concert, just w/ ****loads more people crowding in and walking around. So, totally a personal choice on how you feel about the long-distance walking from your parking spot and wading through crowds. Check the weather this weekend too.

Pros - people watching

Cons - everything else

No wristband, no go. It is that simple.

I've never been to the cook-off and have a dumb question.

I won 4 wristbands from Miller Lite for Saturday, but got no details with them. Will the bands get me in the gate or will I need to pay to get in? Any idea what might be included because I can't get in contact with anyone that knows.

UPDATE- I have 4 wrist bands for Saturday from Miller Lite I'm willing to part with if anyone is willing to come to Sugar Land area to pick them up this evening.

Just a heads up, you'll only have access to the general tent for a plate of cheap bbq, overpriced beer, and the main stage. All the other tents are private parties you can't get in to. Also, the rest of the faregrounds are closed. Its not the cookoff+rodeo faregrounds being open. Its just this sideshow.

Was fun when we went though. We watched Zane Williams and Flatland Cavalry.

Wristbands do not get you in the gate. You will have to buy grounds tickets for that. Assuming these are wristbands for the miller lite tent, once you are at the tent, you will have all you can drink alcohol and dinner, plus whatever entertainment they have that day

Nothing. I'm not using them and don't want them to go to waste if someone can use them.

Wow! Dingleberry on the other thread was offering $200 each. By my math, that's like $800 bucks you are giving

I've gotten zero replies at $0, so I don't really think I could get anywhere close to $200.

But like I said, they didn't cost me anything and if someone wants them I'd rather they be used than go in the trash.
