For the company I work for on the side it's roughly $30 per ft. Material just went up a little. That price is for cedar, 3 rails and a rot board at the bottom. It also depends on how many ft. The more footage, the more we can work with price. Usually 75-100 is the minim footage for our base price. How fast do you need it? I still can't drive right now due to knee surgery or else I'd come check it out for you myself.

C&J Outdoor Services is the company. We've done a few TA fences

Have these costs gone up materially since pre-COVID?

I'm between CS and Spring/Tomball, but just had a guy from Bryan price out a basic 6' fence with no rot board or anything. $22/lf, plus $200 to haul off the old fence. A man gate is $125.

We just had a couple sides of our back yard rebuilt with cedar, 3 rails and a rot board at the bottom and it was around $30/ft and ~$150 per gate.

just had my fence in houston done in december, 3 sides of the yard, 145 ft in total, and it came out to about $32.50/LF for ours. I got 2 quotes and they were within $300 total of each other.

edit to say, this included tear down and haul off of the old fence. new fence was 3-rail 6' cedar picket with PT rot board, posts, and rails

Mind sharing who you're using for this? Sounds like it would work for what I'm looking for in the same area.

On the Upper East Side - in Kingwood - we used New Caney Fence in November. $24 l/f. We didn't have any gates but our neighbor did and I think they were $125. Included tear down and haul away.

Do most/all companies use wooden posts by default? What are the opinions on galvanized posts? I feel like my wooden posts seem to rot and get torn up by lawn equipment faster than I would like.

We built the same as pictured two years ago and sprayed a treatment on it then.
Need to spray the cedar pickets again. What do you recommend spraying on them?

It's really personal choice by the customer. We've done fences with galvanized and ones with wooden posts. A lot of HOAs don't allow galvanized posts so that's probably why you don't see them a lot.

Power wash the first and let them dry. Then you can spray whatever you want really. I'm going about to spray mine with ready seal in the cedar color. Clear stain helps repeal water but isn't great at protecting the fence from the UV rays. I wouldn't go any heavier than semi-transparent. After that it's pretty much paint

We use a lot of wood defender as a company unless they customer gives us a preference.

Has anyone ever DiY their own fence ? If so, how did you dispose of the old fence ? I dont think I can just leave it on the curb as it will be a lot

I got mad after all the PT posts on my back fence rotted out after only 5 years and decided to DIY it after the last hurricane finally took it out. Came in at $20-$22/ft for a 3 rail cedar fence with 6" rot board and galvanized poles/brackets.

Getting rid of the old fence was the tough part. I gave a bunch away to a family member who wanted to build a deer blind. Cut up some for camp firewood. The hardest thing to get rid of is the concrete footings from the old fence. Trash folks won't take them so they're still piled up in a corner of my yard. I'll probably end up taking them down to the dump in Pearland and paying to get rid of them at some point.

Any updates on a fence here? Still hovering around $30/ft?

I think if it cut to 3' and bundled they will pick it up. I did a heavy tree trimming last year and they picked up every bit of it.

Yea your trash service should tell you what they require for them to take it. Probably something like 3 foot bundles and exposed nails removed.

I've done a couple a while back, 12 inch rot with a 7 foot picket for a total of 8 feet. It usually comes out about half price if you build it yourself. As far as disposable of the old. There are dumps around Houston that will take it for free if you remove all nails from the old boards. You obviously have to haul it there.

But back in '18 it was $21 per linear foot for me and I calculated just material cost for everything including posts and cement and nails was 12-13$ per linear foot if I did all myself. I also had a father in law with a dump trailer and a couple really good nailers at my disposal

Texas Fence! Josh Harris is one of the sales guys. Best price of 3 quotes I got and very quality wood. Not crap like my neighbor used which is already warping after a year.

Texas fence seem really good… but I chose Texas Direct Fence and they did 120 feet WRC with 12" rot board and a top rail for me and it looks great… pricing is irrelevant now because it was during pandemic, but he was very competitive, with the five or six companies. I talk to at that time. I used Victor.
