How long do you want to ignore this user?
Next month my wife and I going downtown Houston.
Staying at four season and taking in an Astros game.

We like to walk and since the hotel, stadium and restaurants/ bars are all with half mile and an 10-15 minute walk we will likely park car and just walk.

Is it safe to walk around those areas in downtown Houston at night?

TIA

There's a ton of homeless living under 59. Around gametime there is significant police presence. Never felt unsafe. But not sure the dynamic on those streets beyond the ballgame timeframes.

Only thing to watch out for is drunk idiots (or regular idiots) on those rentable electric scooters.

The past few times I've been downtown, I felt like it was much cleaner and more quiet than I ever remember it. Far less homeless people in general as well, the camp under 59 excluded. My thought was/is that the lack of downtown activity due to covid (aka $) has caused the homeless to find somewhere else to ply their trade.

Now, there was a homeless guy across the street from the restaurant where I had brunch last weekend. He had on shorts but the whole ass was ripped up. He was wearing a memory of a shirt. He proceeded to destroy everything around him including a whole case of bottled water and a bag of fruit that someone gave to him.

If there isn't a homeless guy completely off his rocker with his whole ass showing while chunking bottled water and apples down the street, is it even downtown?

Appreciate replies

Walking from hotel to game not concerned about at all.
It's a day game and as someone posted already I'm sure police presence is enhanced for games.

After game will be walking from hotel to restaurant and probably a bar after for night cap.
But everywhere walking looks to be several blocks north of 59 and only time it will be somewhat late would be walk back to hotel after dinner/ drinks

The farther you get from 59 the farther you get from the homeless camps.

My boys and I walked from the Hilton Americas to Kim Son last time we were there and saw no one else walking. Felt totally safe.

Where are you going for dinner and drinks? Should be completely fine if not crossing 59. Also, hope you got a pool room at four seasons.

Got a corner suite... prefer views and big windows over ground level.

Thinking Pappas Steakhouse and then Pete's Piano Bar

I stay in downtown on a regular basis for work and walk all over to get dinner in the evenings. Never feel unsafe.

The Four Seasons, Pappa's, and Pete's are all about two blocks from each other in a very safe area.

Pete's is a good time. The Foundation Room is next to it and is cool to chill at but you have to enter from ground floor on Dallas street. I think they are back to being open regularly.

You shouldn't have any issues walking around all that area at night, save for some homeless people around. The liveliest night life you will find will mostly be along Main between Congress and Texas (walkable from HoB area but we usually uber). From what I can remember there is usually a collection of homeless people laying next to the buildings near the corner of Fannin and Prairie, but that's about it. Also you will find the crowds in that area a bit more mixed.
