anyone know of a place that can provide same day results for PCR?

i got one yesterday at CVS, but they tell me 2-3 days for results. i have to fly tomorrow evening...


side rant - how the F are people supposed to comply with rules of "must have PCR no more than 72hrs before your flight" if it could take 72hrs to get results??

You can get rapid test at bush. Most places open to visit allow rapid antigen within 48 hours of departure. Enjoy your trip!

I am pretty sure you cannot get pcr same day. It takes time to replicate the dna a whole bunch. It is a cyclical process and they have to run the cycle a certain number of times. I don't know how long each cycle takes, but it is not just a matter of seconds for each step in the cycle. I haven't done this in 20 years, so maybe they streamlined it more since then, but I don't think they can speed up the natural dna replication too much.

I guess with viruses it is rna they are replicating, maybe. Hell, it has been too long.

I was able to get same day pcr at bush prior to international travel.

Both of my sons had to get tested due to various things at their high school (1 for a camp he's going to and the other dur to potential exposure). We did it at CVS each time. They said 2-3 days, but results came back about 24 hours later in both cases.

One of them was tested Wednesday (2 days ago) at 4:30pm and the results were sent to us Thursday (yesterday) at 4pm.
