Energy Ogre just signed me up for Discount Power at 9.9c (500) and 9.5c (1000).

My current contract is up this Friday. Sounds like Energy Ogre is the way to go. I'm assuming you just sync up your auto pay through them aren't aren't having to constantly change payees?

Ugh, prices just keep going up. I didn't pull the trigger when I got my renewal notice last month because my contract doesn't expire until the end of August.

500 kW is up over 10c now, and my usage is typically <1000 after September.

Express Energy "Speedy 24" looked like the best deal when I renewed recently.

Rates have gone up $0.006/kwh since I signed up. Currently $0.06355/kwh energy charge. With adders works out to 10.6 cents @ 500kwh, 10.1 cents at 1000kwh, 9.9 cents @ 2000kwh. No tiered pricing nonsense.

If you decide to go with EE this referral link gets us both $25:

Just checked them - the 1000 kWh rate is great (7.5c) but 500 is 14-17c, depending on the plan!!!

I think I'm going to go with Just Energy for 4 months and then reassess. But even this plan is more expensive compared to when I priced it a few weeks ago.

Looks like it does not show "Speedy 24" using my link. You can find it on PTC.

I have a question - I'm on Think Energy now, and when I go to renew (the plan options are terrible), it also shows me what the variable rates would be if I just rolled over to a month-to-month plan.

For Centerpoint, the July rate is 9.8c, August is 13, and September is 6.4.

I was just about to pull the trigger and switch to a 6 month plan with another provider (the 4 month had a $14.99 "carbon offset enrollment fee", which I refuse to pay just on principle).

But is what I'm seeing on my Think Energy account telling me to wait this out a little longer? My contract doesn't expire until Aug 25. I'd be willing to roll over to a month-to-month for a short term, if it means I could get a better fixed plan.

I'm not really sure what those variable rates will actually mean for my bill. For comparison, the best "fixed rate" plan Think is offering me is 7c NOT including the delivery charges.

I was looking at that Just Energy 4 month plan and it looks like you have to buy some $14.99 "One-time terrapass set up and carbon offset". Not sure what that is.

Yeah, that's a big NO for me. Not paying that scam fee. Next best option is a 6 month plan with Frontier. I think I may take my chances with month to month, at least long enough to get me out of an August renewal.

I signed 3 year contract this year, after Griddy went under, at 8.6 cents per kWh, all-in.

I have Frontier and no issues. I was with OurEnergy and I think they sold out to Frontier. I was with OE for 2.5 years and never had an issue.

Does anyone have a Frontier referral code?

They don't have that feature available yet. Says it's coming soon.

Oh ok, it had a box for referral code when I was starting the signup process so figured I would ask.

Several years ago I got an email from the association of former students regarding a sponsor, at the time called Electricity EZ. Now they are called Thigbe. They are a concierge service and do bulk buys to get the best price. They monitor your contract and reup for you. Takes all the guesswork out of it and you don't have to shop on your own. Also, they give you a discount on their service if you're an Aggie.

Currently my plan is through Spark energy. Last month we used 2793 kWh @ $.0455, delivery charge of $89.71. Total charge of $225.52. This includes Thigbes fee of $6.70 and a $3.35 charity donation. This makes it a cost of $.078/kWh.

I've really appreciated this service and keeps me from having to shop around every year, or rolling the dice on signing up for a long term contract.

Balls. I totally forgot to renew a while back and just started seeing some high summer bills. Is my best plan to go on a 3 month rate and hopefully demand will be low in early December?

prices are being partially driven by higher NG prices. While that issue could go away, waiting until the winter introduces some risk that a cold winter will cause NG futures to rise and further elevate prices. That is to say if it were me i'd look at 9-12 month plan.

Prices have dropped a bit, but only for the short-term plans. I couldn't find anything decent for 12 months, and I didn't see any 9 month plans. I renewed with Peso energy right before my contract with Think expired last week. Rates were finally back under 10 cents.

I'm hedging my bets with a short term plan. I know renewing in August was a terrible schedule to be on. We will see if expiring in December is better or not.

I honestly have no idea who my rep is.
I use real simple energy and they change me from rep to rep whoever is cheapest. I pay them they pay whoever.
One less things to worry about.

I'm with Think and it's going up from 8.5 cents to 10.3.

I just checked Power to Choose and I see a bunch of companies I've never heard of - Octopus Energy, Ranchero Power, Discount Power, V247, Veteran Energy, etc. Lowest price for a 12 month contract is 9.4 with Frontier Utilities (another name I don't recognize).

I can get Gexa or Cirro for 9.6, and both are names I recognize. I just hate playing this game.

Did anyone have issues with their "provider" after the freeze? I just think it's odd that there are so many new ones that I don't recognize.

No to Veteran Energy.
