Need to replace 5 windows on the front of the house.
Looking for recommendations for those who have recently gone out for replacements.
I have All-State coming out later this week, but would like a couple more.

I just got quotes from four companies:

Window World - baseline quote with no intention of selecting them. Cheapest option with questionable crews. Some great, some bad. Only one window option.

Superior Windows - Tried to upsell to reinforced vinyl with aluminum core. Pretty terrible high, pressure sales experience (3+ hours) and had to force the guy out of the house. Most expensive of the four quotes I got.

Ultra Windows - recommends aluminum windows, which aren't as efficient as vinyl but stronger. Best install process / crew of the people I talked with. Middle price point. Efficiency is only as good as the install imo. Son is an Aggie.

Houston Window Experts - sell all kinds of brands and can install whatever you want (vinyl, aluminum, fiberglass, wood). Vinyl quote I got was in the middle of bids. Felt okay about their install process and no high pressure sales. Didn't love the product I was quoted, but like I said they have many options

Curious what about the HWE install you didn't like? We went with them for Amsco windows back in January and have been really pleased. Very communicative and happy to be transparent on the process.

I think the install would have been good. Didn't have any real concerns other than they didnt mention spray foaming the cavity between the brick and frame prior to putting in the window. Could be misrembering that though. Concern wasn't enough to not go with them if I liked the product better.

If you don't have a need for the old windows, i could use them on a garden shed project.

I used AWP - Advanced Window Products for my house and recommended them to all my friends. They have their own installers. They were polite and didn't leave a mess behind. I've had the windows 10 years and haven't had an issue.

how much cheaper is Window World usually? Is it possible to request a crew?

For my bids they were 35% to 55% cheaper. Not sure on crews.

They are clearly a volume player. No follow ups after the initial consult. Fastest consult because they only had one product. Basically rough measured the windows, gave me a 10 min pitch, asked if I had any questions, and left.

By and large the windows they remove are destroyed in the process. Glass broken, frames cut out, etc. Without removing the siding there isn't any access to the original flashing.

We recently had all of our windows replaced by Houston window experts. We got quotes from then, window world, Renaissance, and my father in law's neighbor who installs Pella from Lowe's. Even he recommended HWE based on their awesome warranty, so that's who we went with.

I've been very impressed with Paul Ryan windows. Price point, installation guarantee, quality of window... they check all boxes. Not the cheapest, but by no means expensive. Give them a look.
