The Romanov Estate in Hunters Creek.

Where is it exactly and who is the current owner?

Current owners are Michael and Colleen Holthouse. Address is 107 Timberwilde Ln. Michael founded Paranet, which was acquired by Sprint for $425 million in the late 90s. Sounds like they set up LANs back in the 90s. Crazy.

Looking at the tax rolls, they built a little 3k sqft house to live in while they built their 16,621sqft (!!!) house.

Yeah that article and listing (or non-listing) seems a little over the top. There are other similarly sized/valued homes that are listed on the mls/har. And it's so top secret/private that the HBJ does an article with quotes from their realtor. Good marketing I guess.

So I'm assuming the Holthouses are fleeing to the Woodlands like all the other elite Houston rich folk?

Exactly what they are saying. Timberwilde has some sweet estates on it. Was on a little league team with kid that lived on that street and had practice in his backyard.

"The estate is surrounded by Buffalo Bayou on three sides, adding to its privacy."

If that place didn't flood that's some rich people magic

Those lots are banked and he's got 9 acres. I would think he was fine. HCAD shows 2 acres being floodway so that's your "sacrificial area" if you will.

Yeah the main house is at the front of the lot...not on the portion surrounded by bayou.

I think the main house took on some water during Harvey. The guest house on the peninsula turned in to a guest house on an island.

Was more referencing the movie because they had a baseball diamond at his house in the movie and played there. Tried to find a gif of it online, but came up empty.

Who cares about flooding. You can get cheap coverage through the NFIP - $250,000 for structure and $100,000 for contents. Buy that and sleep well at night knowing your $40,000,000 house is insured.
