BS

Sure, we don't really have mountains but there are tons and tons of beautiful outdoor spaces easily accessed via drives under 2 hours (1-way) from every major metro area.
not if you compare to CA... I love Texas and never want to leave but CA is just beautiful.
CA is the Ms America pagent. Amazing to look at, but dumber than a box of rocks

You forgot and will cost you an ass load of money.
that was understood

About day trips.

Yeah. Texas is big. In California, everyplace that is worth visiting is like 30 miles from the coast.

If you want to live in Texas, buy a truck, stay overnight. That simple.

Or, even better, go back to California.

On the allergies.......no comment.

I feel like the day-trip thing is the one that bugs me the most. Anyone that relocates from the west or Rockies complains about it, but then doesn't really entertain the idea of working with what's available. It feels similar to a bandwagon sports fan that is only a fan when they are good, these people are only a fan of places that occupy the top 1% beautiful places in the country.

If you truly enjoyed the outdoors, you would make the most of what was in front of you. Between hill country, the coast, the lakes, the piney woods, far west texas, and then AR/OK/LA, there is plenty to see during at least 3 out of the 4 seasons in the year.

Most of it is, to be sure, but Yosemite is amazing to see, if you can see around everyone else's head that's in the way. It's a crowded nightmare, like hiking in and out of a football game.

I recommend the Eastern Sierras if you like mountain outdoors, fly in/out of Reno and if you miss the signs at the border, you'll never know you're in CA at all.
