you're right, if there had been one less tropical storm, then there would have been one less tropical storm.

Katrina was late August and Rita was late September, so you recall correctly...but it was a pretty steady stream all season. Hell, one of the storms of the 2005 season (Zeta) actually carried over into 2006.

2005 also had multiple major hurricanes in July, including one Cat 5 (Emily).

This season so far has had naming quantity, but not much in the way of intensity of storms. I wouldn't put 2020 into the league of 2005 at this point...2005 had already kicked numerous asses by this point.

Bingo. We may have gotten to "H" but so far everything but Hanna has pretty much been a fish spinner or a glorified thunderstorm. Nothing at all like 2005.

Tough internet guy: every storm has been a fish spinner or nothing burger
R: Not saying they've been bad yet, just sayings it's been a very active early part of the season and if history holds we should expect the rest of the season to be active
