Wife and I are hitting it up this weekend and curious for those who've been if they have any suggestions, or anything to avoid? Also I'm pretty unfamiliar with location. Their any cool bars nearby to have a drink at before dinner?

I've been twice. Once I enjoyed a lot and the other time wasn't that remarkable for a high end steakhouse but still a high end steakhouse so a rich, very good meal.

Steaks are obviously all prime cuts so really good. Outside of that, the 2 dishes I remember when I went they had a peach burrata that was memorable and the smoked pork belly for a starter was really good too.

Same here, not too impressed with it. Food was pretty average and the service was worse. For the money, I'd rather do Del Friscos or Pappas.

Normally pappas is our go to but wife doesn't want to get "super dressed up". That's why we going with Killen's. A little more casual and something new for us. Thanks for the suggestions. The pork belly sounds great.

I like STQ for what it is - a more casual steak place. Their steaks are like so many places including my backyard. Actually, my backyard is better but that's a post for another thread.

Their steaks are fine. They're not gonna knock your socks off but they're damn good. You pay for it though.

The chicken fried ribeye is OUTSTANDING and what I'd go for if you don't want steak and don't mind struggling to breath like you got The Covid. The beef rib is also pretty good.

Their sides are REALLY good and might be the best part of the meal.

One of the best meals I've had was when we went with 6 people and did family style. Got a ribeye, filet, beef rib, and had them do the chicken fried ribeye as steak fingers. Did a couple appetizers before the meal that included the pork belly and tamale. Had four sides and then topped it off with a smoked chocolate cake.

The service can be hit or miss. Had one guy one time that was mad about something but for the most part they've been really good.

It's not a place I'd regularly go but it's solid on occasion for something different.

As for bars beforehand the only place I'd recommend is Rons Pub on Fountainview if you like non pretentious divey type bars that our their drinks real strong.

The last time we went we got all appetizers, and it was perfect.

(The carrot cake is seriously delicious too)

They have a burnt end app that is really good too.

App: smoked pork belly
Side: Brussels and Mac
Entree: Beef Short Rib
Dessert: Carrot cake (they serve it warm)

Found it to be overpriced for average food. Have not been back.

Smoked cake tastes like chocolate cigarette. Everything else was good.

Carrot cake was fantastic.
Steak was a letdown.

Agreed. His appetizers beat the hell out of his steaks, that's why we did all apps/sides (and Yquem) on our last visit. I'll probably keep doing that there...just my preference.

The smoked brisket ragu entree is one of the best entrees that I have ever had.
