I need a small commercial Ice Machine for my garage - my 15 year old Ice-O-Matic has finally died.

Anyone have a recommendation for finding a replacement in Houston? In a perfect world it would be a new scratch & dent or good used machine. Looking for a basic 30" machine that makes "dice" size cubes or full "regular" size cubes. I have a bin so just need the modular Ice Machine.

Any info on Brands and/or where to buy?

Do you know of any recently open restaurants in the area that haven't caught on? Maybe go by and talk with the owner to see how things are going. If they state it's bad, then give him your info and have him call you when he throws in the towel and needs to liquidate his assets.

Best commercial manufacturer is Hoshizaki. Last for years with proper maintenance. Not cheap. Even have under counter models that make "sonic" ice.

Neighbor at the first house I bought had one of those sliding door drink fridges you see in many delis. That's how he got it. Small talked the owner over a few visits and knew he was about to close, then made him an offer.

Northwest Restaurant Supply at 6955 W 43rd St, Houston, TX 7709. They have new but they also do reworks that they pick up from folks that may have bought them and didn't pay off or the restaurant closed. People always focus on the size of the ice machine production but in a home you don't need a super huge machine. I'd go with a larger bin because production is based off a 24 hour period and there is no way you will use 200lbs of ice in a day. Just 2 cents from a guy that bought equipment for a large restaurant group for years.

Manitowoc ice machines are top. "sonic' ice is called pebble ice.
