I suggested looking into the Ronald McDonald House of Houston or possibly the Houston Hospice.

If they are being treated for leukemia, myeloma, or lymphoma, they should ask there doctor to refer them to halo house. $20/night and is the pet project of an MDACC leukemia doctor.

This probably won't apply for the OP but might help somebody else. There is a great organization called Nora's Home located in the Med Center that offers housing for patients and families undergoing organ transplants.

The Woodlands Rotary Club maintains two apartments for patients for the hospitals in that area. They only charge a cleaning fee and can stay as up to three months. Website: https://rotaryhousetw.org/.
