Wanna replace original incandescent lights in both the pool and spa with colored, programmable LED's.

Any recs? Cost estimates?

I've replaced the current ones myself but don't wanna tackle these, new cords and tying to control panel on my own.

Cost estimates?

Short answer on cost.... a lot

We just remodeled the pool this spring. Had plans for a couple years now that I would upgrade to LEDs like you described when we remodeled. I've got iPhone controls for my equipment so I could easily control them through it.

Then I looked up prices. Then I read reviews. Then I talked to a guy I know who builds pools and has the lights on his.

Ultimately I went back with new regular lights. I was ok with the upfront cost, but did not want to end up replacing a bulb every 1-2yrs at $500 a pop. When they burn out I might install a LED bulb in them.

As I recall when we had our pool built, it was around $1200-1500 for the two lights, but i could be wrong.

Here's what I received via email from R Pools:

Here is a general estimate for the cost Jandy LED color changing pool/spa light fixture with a two year parts and labor warranty:

LED Pool/Spa Light Fixture ranges from $699.99 to $799.99 each and it is $150.00 to install each.

That's just the light

There are other parts on the panel side that you need as well. They don't just hook up like the regular lights do.

I want to say when I priced it out, parts were about $2,000. Been 6 months so I don't remember exactly.

Also, side note....did you switch to R Pools?

No; just found them on Google. Know nothing about them.

My pool builder told me to call Hutchinson Pools in Tomball. He estimated $800/each + labor. Said my panel should be able to accommodate the controls.

Gotcha.

I just remember when I looked into it, I needed more than just the lights.

Plus like I said, I started reading reviews and everyone said the bulbs would go out ever 1-2yrs. My buddy that builds pools (believe he has Hayward) said he's replaced 3 in 2.5 years

I've got problems with mine not syncing. One of the bulbs the "blue" went out.

After 10 years of dealing with the original incandescent fixture, replaced the entire fixture with this from Amazon for under $600.

Amazon - Pentair LED pool light

Got tired of the original fixture leaking - replacing gaskets, clamps, etc... bought the new light fixture with 100 foot cord and replaced. Found the J box where the light was terminated - tied a cord to the "old" wire and pulled the old wire out of the conduit/pool. Tied the new wire to the cord and pulled back in the conduit. Bolted it back in, terminated the wires. Done in less than a half hour.

Use it every night we are home. Worked without issues since June 2015.

Think I'll just buy a new gasket and deal with the original light.

Brand new is pretty affordable. My bezel was tarnished so we just put in 3 new lights.
