Looking for a place that would be good for a date night with the wife. Just looking for ideas of places we have never been before. Somewhat nice/cool atmosphere. Along the lines of taste of tx, brenners, etc.

That and the oaks in warrenton are the two places we eat most often when we dine out and both are excellent. However, we are wanting to make a trip into the big city for dinner one night this week

for italian check out antonia's near katy mills or da vinci.
Da Vinci in katy is a pretty unique Italian place, very good, but it is small. I wouldn't go without reservations. Outside of that, there is always Perrys. If you are looking for something after dinner, the Cellar Door is a pretty good wine bar.
If you like Italian, try Carmelo's on Memorial Drive just west of Dairy Ashford.

its out in Fulshear...but it has great food, great atmosphere (think quiet, soft music at a volume that allows you to converse, small) and you need a reservation

Jonathan's and Carmelo's are the first two that came to mind. Good Co. Seafood is good too, but I've only gone for lunch.
we tried Da Vinci's once....lasted all of ten minutes before we walked out. Service sucked and not being able to hear yourself think because it was so loud made for a terrible experience

For Italian date night or family meal we normally go to Nicks. It definitely beats the Olive Garden type Italian places. It's out near Aliana, South 99 off of W Airport.
We've also been wanting to try out Agave Rio at 1463 and Kingsland. They haven't been open long, and the reviews are kind of mixed, but it is like 5 mins from our house.

I dont know, Memorial? I thought West Houston was everything west of the Beltway to Katy.

For Date night in Fulshear i prefer Ray's Grill over Dekkers. Much quieter.
We also enjoy Bistro 529 in Katy - close to the YMCA.

It just opened, and I'd disagree with needing reservation.
Will agree that it still has great food and ambiance.
But it is an order at the counter kinda place, it changed greatly since it was Ray's.

I think the Chef from Dekkers left to open Anthonies. I believe he was the original Chef and part owner of Dekkers back when Dekkers was good.

but the food is really good so you at least got that correct.
