I think its off 45 as you approach 288/59 headed to medical center. Theres an old Days Inn maybe?

Anyone know the address or story behind it?

It's been like that for almost 20 years. It should have been blown up ages ago. I think it was purchased with intent to remodel back in 2007 then the market crashed and that project basically stopped. Some work was done to clear out rooms and I think some of the interior was demo'd but I haven't seen any recent changes.

I'm assuming it will be demoed in the not to distant future after the SB is gone. It has been completed gutted here in the past few months.

Believe it was a Holiday Inn and some Urban Animals hung around it. You'd sometimes see small lights in some of the rooms I presumed were homeless.

I hear Ed Emmett stepped in and saved it so he can turn it into a parking garage.

I was here to make the same joke.... beat me to it.

Houston Press did a story on it several years ago, if it's the one I'm thinking of.

They've been "gutting it" since 2012. I think it's just a single dude with a wheelbarrow.

It was once the largest holiday inn in the continental US and it was later known as the Heaven on Earth Inn.

Yeah, but it didn't start looking completely abandoned and gutted till a few months ago. At least it never stuck out as much.

Anyone remember how bad the old Savoy hotel just a couple blocks away looked before they fixed it up a couple years ago? It was almost just as scary

Word around the neighborhood is that the owner back in the 80s was in some type of organized crime and severely beat/tortured some people there
