My lemon and lime trees are officially dead from the recent freeze. Any recommendations on places to get good and bigger citrus trees? Home Depot and Lowe's trees are pretty tiny (it's I previously had), Houston Garden Center had some decent sized ones but I'm looking for a little more mature trees.

Your trees may still be alive. Wait until Spring to verify.

Joseph's Nursery in Pearland usually has nice size fruit trees. My lime tree from them produced fruit in year one of me having it. I think it was 3-4 years old when purchased.

We got a blood orange tree at the master gardner sale for 30 dollars at Bear Creek today. They are having another one next Saturday in Tomball

You might try Plants for All Seasons.

Pretty sure these two are dead, limbs snapped in half, and scratched pretty deep by the trunk and no green whatsoever.

My older lemon tree (fully grown) is still a little green.

Dont know about lime varietals, but Myers lemons can tolerate colder weather than most other lemons.

My lemon tree is good to go
Lime tree took it on the chin and looks pretty pathetic but still kicking
Doubt I get anything decent off it this year

A co-worker has a Meyers lemon tree. I don't know where to get saplings or trees, but I'll second it as pretty hardy for Houston.

Switch to Satsuma mandarins. They survive down to <20F.

I do have a satsuma tree and it survived! Only thing is it is pretty small, doesn't grow upwards very well and the fruit was crummy this year. It's young though!

+1 for rcw at 249 and bw8. We appear to have lost a key lime in the freeze. We picked up another lime and an avocado tree there over the weekend. They had a good selection of different citrus varieties and have very knowledgeable folks to help you pick the right one for what you are looking for. We have two different satsuma varieties we bought from them and both went through the freeze just fine. They are both sprouting new growth with all the warm weather.

Our key lime tree survived. Once covered with a sheet, we ran a few strings of the larger incandescent Christmas lights through the branches which helps ward off the cold.

That is my plan for next time it gets that cold.

Current state of trees, I think they're dead but when i looked at the base of the trees and scratched farther down there was green to it. The branches did basically snap in half and looked dead and dry.
