Looking for recs:

The lady and I are looking for an inclusive resort in the Caribbean for the end of April. Not counting flights (I've got miles), we are looking to spend $1600-$1700 for the two of us.

What yall got?

Whats important: quality of food, amount of options, quality of beach, pool, and fun nightlife activities

Privelges Aluxes on Isla Mujeres

Nice hotel, decent food, nice pool area and spa, great beach and location, and some cool bars and restaurants nearby when you want to get away from the AI.

Rent a golf cart for the time you're staying on the island and you'll have a ton of stuff to do.

We loved it there and can't wait to go back.

Azul Fives in Playa del Carmen is our favorite to date.

The only one I've ever been to is Sandals Royal Bahamian. Wife & I both enjoyed it

For that price range, look at Southwest Airlines vacation packages. We are doing one in puerto vallarta in march for a similar price.

How many days. $1,500 can be like 4 days at a 2 star or 2 days at a 5 star?

Been to Sandals Bahamian and Emerald Bay also have done a ton or research as well as stayed at several resorts that were non-inclusive.

April may be booked for a lot of places just saying its not too far off and quite a few people travel at that time. Emerald Bay would be my choice even if you have to spend a little more its worth it for the quality of the food / drinks. Location / food drinks were better than the Sandals Bahamian in my opinion though its the same umbrella.

We are thinking either 3 or 4 days. We would sacrifice a day if it meant a greatly upgraded room

We have always enjoyed the Palace Resorts line. They have adults only, one with lots of golf, and more family oriented options. Food has always been decent and alcohol is better than most.

Not in the Caribbean, but I highly recommend Belize as an alternative. It's easier to get to, more affordable, less touristy and just plain amazing. My new wife and I honeymooned there last January.

You should ask this on the travel board.

I've only been to Cancun lately but here's my recs.

I've been to Excellence Playa Mujeres twice and enjoyed it. Great food, good liquor and secluded area. My wife is picky as hell with hotels and it's the only place that we've been to twice (also been to Sun Palace, some Jade place in Playa, got married at Riu Palace Las Americas and the Riu Palace in Playa)

Lots of folks recommend Secrets Maroma so we'll probably go there if my wife will stop being pregnant.

We have done Dreams in the Riviera Maya. We had the Preferred Club with Plunge Pool, it was great.

Belize is on the Caribbean.

Booked the Paradisus La Perla. Great reviews and got a master suite swim up for $1700 after taxes for 4 nights.

Now just have to wait until April gets here!

Thats getting to the start of low season (ie cheaper). If you can hold out till May, deals are even better.
