The really ****ed up thing is they were charging edibles total weight. In other words, if you used less than an ounce of weed to make a pound of brownies, you were charged for possession of a pound of a controlled substance
are they generally pretty cool about charging people only for the actual cocaine and not the associated cutting agent? a weed brownie is still a "narcotic"...just of lesser concentration. "no officer...I'm eating around the weed parts"

Yeah, but how pissed would you be if you got stopped and breathalysed every time you pulled out from a bar?
I drive like it's a real possibility. And cops do favor streets around certain bars.

If you're heading to the big drug party out in the woods, you have to know that cops in the area have nothing better to do than pull you over hoping for a drug bust, just like they occasionally pull over innocent people for the crime of "driving at night" in hopes of a DWI arrest.

Looks like a success.

Wonder how much it will grow next year.

Judging by FPSF's massive growth, I'd say this has no problem growing either. Seems like a natural fit.

With word of mouth about how awesome the festival was reaching both people who didn't have it on their radar as well as people who did have it on their radar but were afraid to go the first year, I can easily see it at least doubling next year.

Hopefully I can run into some of you at Stereo Live; I'll gladly buy you a beer if so!

I'll be there tomorrow night. One of the best lineups in one night I've ever seen.
Maybe going to Andrew Rayel saturday as well

I won't be going this month; I already exceeded my monthly concert budget with Middlelands. It's too bad that the Pegboard Nerds are playing tonight because I really wanted to see them.

Hoping to catch one or two good shows in June.

That sucks. Probably the best month of Stereo Live lineups ever. Did you see Armin van Buuren got added for May 25?

Whoa, what's this?

Pittman said when people bought their tickets, it gave automatic consent to have their property and their person searched. That's when most of the arrests happened.

Holy slant Batman.

I prefer this article.

A few things...

Quote:

the first time the Texas Renaissance Festival has allowed someone else to use their space for a big event.
This is far from true. This scale, perhaps, but there have been events drawing out thousands of people that were hosted at Texas Renaissance Festival that are otherwise not run or associated with TRF.

Quote:

There was 42 arrests made for narcotics possession

42 arrests out of ~75,000 attendees isn't too bad, especially considering how aggressive the local police were.

Quote:

"These people were primarily from out of state. They range from California, New York and Pennsylvania. They were from all over," said Kindale Pittman with the Grimes County Sheriff's Office.

This is completely untrue, unless they are specifically referring to the 42 people arrested. It would make sense that the majority of those who were reckless were from out-of-state and didn't appreciate what might happen to them in Grimes County for behaving how they do in California or New York.

Watson lives about a mile away from the Texas Renaissance Festival grounds. She said the music was so loud Sunday that she could hear every lyric and sing along.
She heard every lyric and sang along to electronic dance music? Amazing!

Also bad bull on publishing literally every person arrested's mugshot on the article. Trashy journalism.

I clearly already struck a nerve with Ag_07 enough as it is by something I said in my counter to the article. No need to trigger him/her/them/xyr further.

Wow that seems like they are giving up on a lot of money.

I don't know what they were getting paid but the festival itself had to have generated over 25 mil.

Did the organizers pledge $$$ to the local community OR a charity that's media-friendly with video to back it up?

10 grand and targeted donations to locals-in-crisis builds trust...legit trust. Not talking bribery or other forms of stupidity. Go to Austin.

See: Woodstock. Pay the locals, they deserve it; then throw
a violence-free excellent show. Patrons behave or...else.
Law backs off, county judge notes revenue spike...Narrative moves from "outside agitators" to "those kids, they were very respectful, and no violence. So friendly."

I like this festival/concert, the folks who posted about attending seemed totally sane and non-confrontational
and southern Grimes County is just beautiful.

Call off the dogs and recognize that two groups, differing politically, can milk a cash cow while preserving the beauty.
And harm no one.

Are the investors on board? Grimes? Win/win in a special place. Bring it back. Anybody I can e-mail?

You would think C3 would know the rules of the game. Maybe the rural nature threw them off as to whether or not they needed to hand out more money.
