How long do you want to ignore this user?

I am trying to unload a quality dining room set, and craigslist does not seem to be doing it. I think the price point is just to high for craigslist. Bought it for $6-7k (I think - and that does not include additional chairs that were purchased later), it sells for close to $11k now on Wayfair (the only place I could find it listed online), and I would take $4k to get it sold and out of my house.

Where would you go about selling a set like this?

Do consignment shops actually work, or are they a big rip-off?

Thanks in advance for the actual advice, sarcastic texags advice also welcome.

I think there's a high end consignment place over on Alabama, but I can't remember the full name of it. Red 'something' I believe.

I've always figured that market was similar to high end fashion items. You might get about 30-40% off what you paid. It just doesn't seem very liquid.

You tried NextDoor of Facebook neighborhood buy/sell pages?

I would agree. My exception would be solid wood furniture, though. I would guess it holds its value semi decently.

Possibly. I just don't see a lot of people lining up for such an expensive piece unless it was a substantial discount.

I'll take some pics tonight, and post them up tomorrow.

Finally got around to taking some photos - see the link to my craigslist ad. After doing some shopping around this weekend, i think my pricing is ok (what it will get negotiated down to anyway). From what I saw that is what you would pay just for the chairs.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, I think I am going to try a couple of the consignment shops as well to see what they can do.

Cross posted to Classifieds.
