The driving range is where you either loosen up or practice so your clubs are the way to go. It's golf.

Top Golf is a bar with some people hitting golf balls for something to do. It's not golf.

The dynamics are the same. A properly struck iron shot hits the ball first. Striking on a matt may provide help for those that duff the ball so that they don't hit it fat but it will still be a poorly struck ball if you know what to feel for and listen for.

There is absolutely no reason in the world that you cannot gain good practice from hitting off mats. Many driving ranges have them.

Just because you are drinking doesn't make it not practice. I drink when I golf. What's the difference?
