Got some large branches down after the last bout of storms and getting a quote on removal/trimming of trees in yard. $300 to trim a tree and $1000 to remove a tree. I have no idea what the market is on this kind of thing so wondering if this is in line?

more or less for the removal.

I generally have in mind 800-1200 to remove a tree.

Post pictures of the tree, impossible to tell if those are good prices without seeing the tree. Also, the pricing depends on if they are trained or a chuck in a truck crew, also having workers comp and liability insurance will come with higher prices.

I just had a 50'-60' pecan tree taken down for $750. That did not include haul off.

Are you still letting everyone one come by to haul it off for you at no charge or did you get that finished already?
I still have a bunch left, but I'm also keeping some.

I'm thinking we're going to need to grind the stump. Can take picture this afternoon. And sorry to say mine is not a pecan tree.

You can rent a stump grinder from HD. 4 hours will be PLENTY of time--it will take you all of 10 minutes once you get it in place. That tool was one of the most fun I've used (edit--I really like cutting down trees).

Price range sounds reasonable, but no one can give you a hard number without actually seeing it. You're mostly paying for the time, drive, drive and equipment; they'll probably do whatever you need once they get started.

As for Ryan's wood, his last Pecan tree is still keeping my parents warm at night around the fireplace. Don't have pics on this phone, but he helped me fill my truck up and the generosity was appreciated.

I had a 40 ft. felled pine tree removed after the last storm for $650. Thought that guy did a great job, too. I'll try to dig up his info.

I had a huge pine tree removed and stump ground for $800 but same dude wanted $1,800 to remove one from my grandmothers yard cause they would have to carry everything out. That tree is still there.

I think my lawn guy charged 300 but I had to handle getting it hauled off. I was a little nervous about it falling on my roof but I like to live dangerously.

I had 2 large oaks trimmed, 2 large palms trimmed, and a pine stump ground earlier this week for $700. The oaks had probably never been trimmed before so they needed a lot of work. That doesn't help w/ cost to remove, but if you go the trimming route, there's a price point for you.

OP- when we going to shoot some ducks?

We used Hector's Tree Service they actually just left. I have a bunch of landscaping and yard upkeep that I am behind on after convincing myself I could keep up with it myself after buying the house 3 years ago. I got them to bundle it all together with removing/grinding one tree and trimming three trees and feel pretty good about the deal. He seems like one step above your fly by night "chuck service" and a little below the guys you hear on the radio.

Catfish, you tell me, you still on a lease? Having a kid seems to really put a damper on hunting time, I think I duck hunted once this year. Did I read that is happening/happened to your recently? Just looking forward to him being able to tag along in a few years. Btw they left me a little bit of red oak logs if that's good enough for your fancy smoker.

Do you mean the company in whose truck he originally drove up in? Yes. Or do you mean when he came back and did it for $400 less and showed up with his nephew and 2 other guys on Saturday? No.

Yup, I'm still on the lease down in Blessing. I have a little one on the way, so we'll see how much I actually get out this year. Shoot me a PM w your email or # and I'll give you a shout sometime.

Oh and you can keep your junk wood, you know only high dollar logs go in my smoker (no homo).

They all have insurance right up to the point the tree falls on your house or one of the workers gets hurt. If you dont mind the risk, i guess thats up to you, but you should know that if they dont have workers comp insurance and a worker gets hurt on your property, they will most likely file against your homeowners insurance and your insurance will pay and raise your rates.

had 3 trees cut down for $300 apiece.

no stump grinding and no disposal. I took care of that.

however the price included cutting the trees into 3 ft sections (making disposal much easier)
