Going to Beaumont on Saturday to see Rodney Carrington with a buddy of mine and looking for some place to eat before. Open to all suggestions, not sure what kind of food we want yet. TIA

Don't know a whole lot about the options as I don't live there or spend much time there. But went to see a customer a couple months ago and we went to Floyd's. I enjoyed it. Their menus consists of Cajun food and some steak, other grilled food.

Just go to Hooters. If you are going to see Rodney Carrington, Hooties should get you started in the right mind set.

Willy Burger is seriously the best burger place I have ever been. It is nothing fancy or nice, but their burgers are awesome.

Sartin's. When I was last there in 93, it was great.

Avoid the chains of you can. They suck anywhere but they seem worse in Beaumont (other than lupes).

If you want expensive, go to the grill. Willy burger is pretty fantastic and ranks up there with the best Houston burger joints. Next door is a good pizza joint called crown pizza with eccentric pizzas like something you'd find in Austin or Montrose. J Wilsons is a relatively new restaurant with awesome burgers, sandwiches and an assortment of other tasty new American style foods. They also have a good craft beer and bourbon selection. If you want sushi, just don't. I personally haven't been too impressed with the Cajun selection given close proximity to Louisiana. Another interesting and pretty tasty (expensive) place is Sugas.

Yelp these places and see what suits your fancy.

CellarDoor's recs are perfect. Willie Burger is awesome. They have very cold beer on tap. Jerry Nelson's has gone down in quality if you ask me. Floyd's is okay if you want fried seafood. J Wilson's is kind of an upscale-ish place but with an awesome, always-changing menu and great drink elections. The Grill may be too fancy for your evening but the food absolutely destroys everything else in Beaumont.

Don't eat at a chain restaurant in Beaumont. There are a handful of good, local options.

Go early, eat lunch at Bobby's in Nederland and then return that evening to Sartin's for some Cajun cuisine.

Second vote for Sartins. Great seafood. When Googling, The one is BMT is Sartins West I believe. The other Sartins is in Nederland. Keep in mind it's a picnic tables & canned soda type place.

Rao's Bakery on Dowlen for dessert & coffee.

I would recommend you drive over to Port Neches to The Neches River Wheelhouse. Very cool atmosphere, right on the water, good drinks, great food. Order the seafood nachos as an appetizer. One of those places that just does it right, all around IMO.

If you're driving, Larry's French Market in Groves is also awesome. Live cajun music on weekends.

If you're into Japanese hibachi grill, Toyko (two sites in BMT, we prefer the Dowlen location).

Mexican food, Elena's on College St.

Lived in the golden triangle for 18 years. Agreed, state away from chains

Novrozskys is a solid lunch joint. I think a few closed after Rita in 2005. Not sure which are still open.

Any one frequent the biker bar in BMT McConaughey visits in True Detective?

No kidding. I grew up in Beaumont. I suggest cancelling the trip or at worst going and packing your food in with you.
