I loom at it this way...if I find a used car on their lot that's the same price as a similar one at a dealership, I'd gladly pay their sticker over spending hours (possibly days) negotiating with a salesman that may come off $1000.

I've bought a few used cars and car max is always evenly priced with other places. Some other places have also told me they don't negotiate , but somehow they always end up negotiating with me. So weird.

This is exactly the situation we were in. Did not want to spend days and/or weeks bickering with some teenager over a few hundred (even if a bit over $1,000) bucks. We wanted a good, used vehicle with decently low miles and well-taken-care-of. Carmax was actually better priced on the one we bought than several other similar vehicles on other lots around Sugarland and Houston. The entire process was very smooth and they had great customer service. We bought the 100,000 mile warranty, so it's not like we are screwed if something goes wrong.

Paid sticker and got the 100,000 mile warranty. I love this thread.

CarMax is a volume dealer - thus the reason for no-haggle pricing.
